I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

Company that union busts and fires its employees and then justifies it by spreading rumors they were leaking stuff are now insisting you have to sympathize with them because it’s heartbreaking what these leakers are doing to their employees.

if these things come in threes the universe absolutely owes us you know what as the third at this point
"My little butterfly wings are getting kinda tired." Dolly knew the power of leading with love. She is, and will always be, an inspiration and an example. She's been a guiding light in my life and so many others. An angel on earth went home. We'll always love you, Dolly.
Come on. This is too much. First Dolly Parton, now Tim Curry. 😞 www.tmz.com/2026/08/26/t...

goodbye, goodbye, goodbye you were bigger than the whole sky 💔
if you are a gay icon STAY INSIDE!!! it’s DANGEROUS OUT HERE!!!!!
If there’s anything we can learn from the passings of Dolly Parton and Tim Curry is that doing things in the world while entertaining millions of people makes you human. Do what makes you human while you’re alive. Help everyone out in the world.
Tim Curry did a wonderful interview with the Academy Museum before he passed that all his fans should see. While I understand why he hid away from the world after his stroke, we’re so blessed that he did come back to share a few more laughs before the end. Forever one of my favorite actors. ♥️

“not all men”, ok, well it sure is a fucking lot of them.
One of the more obscure facts I remember about Dolly Parton is this: just like Star Trek would not exist without Lucille Ball, Buffy would not exist without Dolly Parton. She was a silent producer of the movie and show. That's why Buffy Summers has the same birthday as Dolly: January 19.
FYI the HUGE number of AI slop at GamesCom's opening night live is not a sign that the industry has normalized AI. It's a ploy to make you believe that. These games are all by the same 3 or 4 publishers. This is a concerted effort to make consumers accept AI.
We’re going to hear about how everyone loved Dolly, and that feels true. But it’s good to remember, and to her credit, that she was attacked for her AIDS activism, her vaccine advocacy, her LGBTQ+ support and even, more recently, for her reading initiatives. She ALWAYS stood firm when it mattered.
my body is aching so much. I'm taking off work for a week in Sept and it can't come soon enough
Dolly Parton did what literally no techbro billionaire would even think of doing: filling her life with good deeds that make people mourn her when she dies. Not one of these assholes would even think of this, they are all right now completely and honestly baffled by the outpouring of love for her.
When we hate on these disgusting immoral evil billionaires it’s bc just look at everything Dolly did. They could be doing that. They could just be helping people and every day they choose not to help people. They choose to harm. And when they die, we’ll dance and laugh and be thankful they’re gone.
Dolly Parton supported a fight against a drag ban in Texas and the ban was ruled unconstitutional this morning.
It always feels like all the wrong people die, but I think it’s because there are far more beloved people than there are bastards.
