I remember during Covid you pointed out that people were feeling their actual economic position rather than the one that cheap goods and services had made them feel. The corruption, climate crisis and lack of cheap money have heightened that even further.

New pet peeve: cis men who take up a craft that was historically gendered labour performed by women and acting like victims of misandrist prejudice when not immediately praised for being very special boys. You're not unwelcome you're just incapable of reading a room and matching the vibe.

The kids hating AI and the gen pop hating data centers, I can promise you that this literally never happened when Silicon Valley was making big leaps and bounds in the 90s tech scene. Email worked. Search worked. Message boards worked. It wasn't some nebulous snake oil looking for a purpose.

Most innovations in information technology got adopted by young people first, by their own choice, then older folks get on board later, after the tech was established. This is the first I can think of where older, more powerful people embraced a new tech innovation and had to force it on the youth.

The Daily Princetonian has published some student reactions to the announcement that the university is giving them all ChatGPT access and -- as most teachers will tell you -- none of the students actually want this garbage. www.dailyprincetonian.com/article/2026...

covid reminded us that work is about 70% about control. The boss wants to see you, be seen by you, be in long meetings — productivity be damned. for a worker to deploy an llm or an agent they have to have nominal control of the tool.

the reality is that we've been primed for slop for a long time, and betting against it is more a matter of faith than reason (which I am more than fine with, by the way, it is admirable to believe in a better future against all the odds)

More seriously, there are more trillionaires in romance’s fictional worlds than there are dollar stores. That says something about the limits of our political imagination. We think poor people can’t desire without class aspiration.

Why did Canadians elect Mark Carney, British Columbians elect Lorne Doerkson, and Vancouverites elect Pete Fry and a bunch of COPE candidates? Allow me, the pundit, to explain that it's coincidentally due to my own beliefs about political strategy that I talk about all the time.

Since I tabled my @ndp.ca Bill C-247 to repeal Section 107 and uphold the right to strike, the Liberals have escalated their attacks on workers in Bill C-39. Unions across the country have opposed these new attacks on workers’ Charter protected collective bargaining rights and right to strike.

Have you advocated for proportional representation? Because anyone making vote splitting arguments, which are only relevant only in First Past the Post, needs to get on the Pro Rep bandwagon and pressure the NDP to stop thwarting electoral reform the way it did in its deliberately opaque referendum
