I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

“She’s just a translator” shows that you don’t understand what translation is. Some of this comes from the ‘automation’ of translation, through things like Google translate. It’s as though it’s just looking words up in a dictionary. No. It’s an art and a science at once. To get meaning and feeling.

Something that's hard to swallow is that if the sentence "ALL THIS WAS CAUSED BY FOSSIL FUELS" was spelled out by the flames of this season's wildfires, it still wouldn't really make a huge dent in the widespread complacency and denialism around the need to urgently stop using fossil fuels

Unpopular opinion: DADA2 is little more than a glorified low abundance filter. The ML error correction, inspired by AmpliconNoise (but less accurately implemented and targeting the wrong type of errors, not PCR), doesn't do much at all. No disrespect intended
