Teacher. Trans man. 40s. This is where I hang out to be very un-teacher-y, so please, 18+ only.

Whenever attempts to hyper-stratify queer identities comes up it's pretty inevitably gentry trying to gatekeep, weird drama or literal grifters trying to start shit for clicks. All worth rejecting, especially if you're trans. Narrowly defined queer communities are always to our detriment.

For younger people who were not there... Know that this country did not come together after 9/11. They went after every brown skinned person they could. Americans didn't know the difference between a Arab and a Sikh. We perpetrated and tolerated violence and misinformation on these people.

Today, one of the largest teachers’ unions in the US announced an agreement with Microsoft that prohibits the tech company from tracking student use of its AI tools. But when asked about what specific steps will be taken if Microsoft fails to follow the agreement, the company president pivoted.

A teachers union and Microsoft just made an AI safety deal. Compliance is an open question.

When asked about what specific steps will be taken if Microsoft fails to follow the agreement, company president Brad Smith dodged the pivoted.

...given who is apparently funding many of these anti-trans campaigns, Dems should TURN EVERY SINGLE TRANS-RELATED QUESTION they receive into a REFERENDUM ON MUSK, his bigotry, & unregulated billionaire contributions to elections. make your GOP opponents defend that! www.advocate.com/politics/ele...

IMHO if you're a generally pro-trans Dem & the GOP hits you with anti-trans attack ads, maybe don't make pronoun jokes? I still think the best response by far is to call them "weird" or "genital-inspectors" or stress the GOP wants to insert themselves into other ppl's healthcare decisions

Gina Hinojosa responds to Greg Abbott's ads hitting on her votes on transgender people by saying "My pronouns are mom/Texan and soon-to-be governor." www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u1g...

People in my own family argued that the entirety of the Middle East should be nuked off the earth and took real issue with me having a best friend of an Iranian descent. A few years later when she took her own life, my uncle asked me to my face if it was a suicide bombing.

I lived in a conservative household post-9/11. I can tell ya that the "us vs. them" mentality was VERY much a thing and it was pure evil.

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

Refusing to use AI isn’t a recalcitrant position. It’s the moral one. There is too much wrong with how this is happening to just “if you can’t beat em join em” this. It’s a lack of consent machine. An environmental destruction machine. An emotional and cognitive numbing machine.

All else aside there is nothing I want or need genAI to do for me. I like reading. I like doing research. I like playing around in spreadsheets. I like interviewing people. I like writing. I like doing these things for myself because I take pleasure in the doing and they make me a better thinker.
