Long way to go, but the AES win, and the broader shift it portends, is another step on the path to John Hickenlooper lining up as the 50th vote for the Dem agenda in 2029 (and the near-miss of swapping him out for a Warrenite progressive proving extremely consequential).
Obviously neither of these things is guaranteed, but if Dems continue to shift left while sweeping back to power in 2026 and 2028, the reelection of John Hickenlooper to a six-year term from a D+15 state could potentially loom very large in 2029 and beyond.
