There is something special about approaching the end of a novel. You know what this book is now. The narrative threads converge, the pace accelerates, as the remaining pages dwindle in your hand. A wistful note creeps in as you begin to pre-mourn the end of the journey. You're running out of mystery

I am honored to announce that in cooperation with the Toth family, I will be working on the official Alex Toth typeface in the coming months. The plan is for this to be a commercially available font via the official Toth estate. Stay tuned for updates.

If you live near an opera company, find out when they do their costume sales. Do it for me. That’s some of the best clothing you’ve ever seen. Beautifully made stuff worth every penny. Every company cleans out their stock from time to time

Yeah, one of the orgs that rents costumes for Broadway and off Broadway has an annual sale. But honestly if you’ve got a local or regional opera company, you have to figure out when they do sales. That’s the good stuff

Republican power grabs in Kansas and Missouri are going down in flames with 18-25% of votes reported so far. Missouri's Amendment 4 aimed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments practically impossible. Kansas' Amendment 1 was designed to flip the state Supreme Court to ban abortion

So, the last issue of IS TED OK? dropped almost a week ago, so maybe now I'll compile some thoughts in a thread!? First, again, huge thanks to everyone who bought it, read it, and helped spread the word. This is a project that managed to keep momentum through six issues and it was so exciting!

the biggest and best movie of the year revolves around the perils and horrors that come with sacrificing a trans life in the name of a short term victory

has anyone unpacked christopher nolan casting a trans person to be the distraction sacrifice for a trojan horse to enter, and then destroy, civilization

The “best” thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that it’s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.

watching X-Men '97 is such a peculiar experience that I can only compare to having the Walt Disney Company send a rep to my house to be like "hey remember that weird dream that you had when you were 12? Remember the in-joke you and your brother invented? We are beaming it into millions of homes"

this is an interesting interview and if i were clipping it for social media i would have excerpted "We're still a place where we don't downrank links. We love sending traffic to people. We send two million clicks a day to publishers" rather than the part that'll just piss people off lol

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
