@friendsofpfa.bsky.social, local politics, bullying for good, and eating Papa Murphy’s poolside every chance I get.

in all the hubbub about the blazers and cops coming for the Portland Clean Energy Fund, there's not enough discussion about the enormous good that PCEF is already funding - and noting that we'd get less off the good stuff if either effort is successful at siphoning funds katu.com/news/local/w...

Portland leaders may redirect Clean Energy Fund dollars to police or Moda Center upgrades. KATU spotlights current PCEF grants like Girls Build, a green construction camp for foster and unhoused girls...

HOLY SHIT. Shout out to @wrightkatu.bsky.social for digging this up. The Blazers literally CANNOT MOVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE until 2030. There is literally ZERO rush to sign a deal. Let's put Tom Dundon on a 4-year City option, that way Tom can feel that competitive burn he always talks about.

A lot is discussed about the city's decision to buy Moda for $1 in 2024, but that was set in motion in 1995. The agreements signed by the team & city in '24 addresses relocation. The team cannot pursue relocation w/ NBA through Oct. 2030 w/o city approval efiles.portlandoregon.gov/recordhtml/1...

Portland's lame duck 2024 city council bought the Moda Center with little public input; assured us that all renovations would be matched by the Blazers; claimed there was a cap on the spending correlated to the parking fees received; and said the city wouldn't use any other funds. We've been had.

I’m unsettled by the Mayor’s newsletter today re: Moda. Rather than acknowledge that there are very real concerns about how this process has unfolded, he chose instead to cast critique as short-sighted and opportunistic in an effort to deflect from the impressive lack of rigor to date on his part.

An uninhabitable Earth is arriving. We have to do everything we can to stop it and avoid mass death. That means an end to fossil fuels and racial capitalism. To me, that feels more inevitable than any other alternative because of our intense collective will to live.

The temperature in Delhi is 45 Celsius/113 Fahrenheit. The government is telling people to stay indoors, but that is not a viable option for millions who need to work and move about outdoors. And its supposed to get hotter. www.bbc.com/news/videos/...
