It's probably best not to count how many tabs I currently have open. My reference books are in a teetering pile as it is. Fortuitously, a lot of the quotes I'm using are ones I've used in previous lectures so I'm grabbing them out of those images rather than looking them. Good job, Past Me!

I was reading from either Chiang or Doctorow about how the tech industry has gone hog wild into LLMs because it has *no new ideas.* All the money is in 6 companies that eat rivals just as they bloom; they don't have TIME to become the next Big Thing. They are acquired and killed. Tech has stagnated

YES. I was just thinking about how many useful ideas and real solutions AREN'T being funded - or even THOUGHT UP - because the money and attention is being sucked into tulip bulbs. You've got kids who might have figured out cold fusion spending all their time building AI video apps.

“Hype is eating the future, and leaving us the bones.” Sun-ha Hong of UNC-Chapel Hill says the Silicon Valley hype machine systematically “borrows credibility from the future to purchase legitimacy in the present.” The cost, he argues, is a planetary-scale drain on our alternatives.

The Apollo astronauts had duct tape. It was used on Apollo 13 to put square CO2 filters in a round hole. A lot of writers don’t want to make problems hard enough for the characters. I don’t think you have that problem. :)

I'm trying to find something to watch that's in English and #LostInSpace is not working. What do you mean you don't have duct tape for your suit? Why are there only a handful of people on your ship? Why were you sitting in a cargo bay? The average soccer mom is better prepared than you.

A lot of the overseas voters I know are paying for tracking on their ballots so they know they actually arrive in the USA and get counted. The Korean postal system is not the major concern here.
