You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

I read a book once, didn't care for it.

On the new Charli XCX record, she talks about rejecting the chance to trade on her half-Asian heritage (which could give her a nice little 'USP') and, as a writer/dabbler, I strongly relate. I don't want to wang on and whore myself over something that doesn't define me culturally or as a person.

Small town terrorized by shark. Media starts giving a lot of airtime to the shark, allowing the shark to explain the logic behind its attacks. Shark becomes popular, and successfully runs for mayor on a platform of "sticking it to the woke anti-shark elite".

Enjoyed the launch of The Book of Cardiff last night at Canopi, a new anthology of short stories from Comma Press. Editors Isabella Barber & Martha O'Brien right of shot. Good readings from some of the contributors, with a range of flavours of the city, past and present. Well done to all involved.

I think we need more stickers and poster exclamations that say 'Now a Major Book!'.

We all remember the times we said stupid stuff years ago and cringe, usually when trying to get to sleep. I think it's sadder when you remember the tiny, equally brief compliments. I remember when someone complimented my grasp of a piece of music. In July 2010.
