If you look at the people *still* trying to attack Jason Arday after his death, and notice that those same people have completely ignored yet another round of fraudulent research from Dan Ariely, it’s obvious the anger is never about research fraud, but about who is permitted to commit it.

Duke professor Dan Ariely’s research article retracted after fraud allegations

After evidence of significant fraud in a 2002 research paper co-authored by Dan Ariely was publicized this week by blog Data Colada, scientific journal Psychological Science decided to retract the pap...

A neat thing about the powerlessness we all feel about the tech companies controlling our lives turning as a single organization to embrace Trumpism is that government is still much more accountable to the public than any corporation, and we still do have the power to mobilize votes to stop this.

I think about google’s “do no evil” back in the day and I imagine some jackass arrogantly reading a little dogen and then thinking they know everything. And look where we ended up. I need to tamp my own ego and attitude down of course. But holy hell.

I think it's pretty great that Ed Markey is spending the twilight of his long progressive career absolutely suplexing the dullest, greediest centrists around. He beat a Kennedy by 10 points in Massachusetts and he's about to body a would-be Newsomite anti-trans goon, all from age 74 on. Hell yeah.

As Democrats across the U.S. signal an increasing appetite for change, Rep. Seth Moulton is hoping that momentum will help him oust longtime Sen. Ed Markey in Tuesday's Massachusetts primary. https://to.pbs.org/4gv3R5N

The “anti-woke” movement so many coastal journalists seem to treat like a fun rhetorical chew toy has killed multiple people and the way such an extremist belief is treated so casually implicates the entire industry of journalism.

The technical practices of archiving and preservation (eg checksums, media migration) or of password management (encryption etc) are what enable that maintenance to happen at a tactical level. But if the org itself isn’t set up in a way that it will be a good steward indefinitely, the tech does nada

I don't think it should be controversial to say, "we will not provide financial or military assistance to a country where the Minister of National Security brags about popping people's dreams of 'food' and 'education' then sending them to a prison where they are starved."

Ben Gvir posted this video on twitter today which shows fat and happy Palestinians on a conveyer built going through the Israeli "prison" (torture camp) system and coming out emaciated and maudlin. This is textbook genocidal content.

I am trying to look without wallowing. This is a challenge as the cruelty on display takes my breath and balance. Looking away will not help us correct this monstrous wrong and will not help prevent this abomination in the future. So I look but also build capacity to witness. A long slog.

NEW FROM ME: On a hellish third-country removal flight last month, passengers say ICE-contracted guards got drunk, teased and beat them, tied them up, refused to let them use the lavatory. One says he witnessed an ICE agent admit to illegal chain refoulement. prospect.org/2026/08/31/w...

Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields concert raising $20m for abortion care nonprofits (among others) while putting on an absolute banger of a show should be getting more play than it is in the millennial retirement home that is Bluesky

If you want to weep for Milo that's fine but consider that, unlike the rest of us, Milo is now living in the world he dreamed of, longed for, and worked so hard to create. This is what he wanted, and now he's getting it good and hard
