I'm going to live. Partly because as trans people, we need to live. Partly because I really really really need to kiss women. These are both important reasons. HRT: July 21, 2026 31 | Canadian Girlie | She/Her | MDNI

Cynthia: Starting vacation with a good book

I read about 120 pages on my flight, laughed a lot, cried a couple times, and had to put it down for a bit when something hit a lot closer to home than I expected. I am loving this book.

If you hadn't told me what book you were reading I still would've guessed Aftertaste from this description of the experience. Reading that book is just Like That.

Boy who crossdresses for fun and positive feedback gets in WAY over his head when a joke "$1000 go on a date with me ^_^" subscription tier gets taken by a REALLY devoted fan 🥵

It is 2006. I am 22. The US is mired in a costly Forever War. A predictable historic market collapse looms. I do not have health insurance. It is 2026. I am 42. The US is mired in a costly Forever War. A predictable historic market collapse looms. I do not have health insurance.

When I first started reading Aftertaste, I had to put it down after the second chapter for a while. There was something in there... and I wasn't ready to deal with that. Not yet. The second time, I only made it six chapters in. But this time? I knew what the thing was. And I knew what I had to do.

Aftertaste is a Toxic Yuri. Sort of. It is a Force-Femme Novel. Maybe. It is a LOT. It can hurt. Some people have to stop reading it part way through. but those who have read to the end tend to message me with something like Ashlynn did. It is strange and wonderful to get notes like hers.

I felt pretty caged up and unsure of myself for the first 38 years of my life. Then in year 39, suddenly, being truly and honestly myself helped a lot of other trans people do the same. It's wild. It's a lot to hold. But I'm so god damn happy my book makes people feel better about themselves.

The description of alienation given to Simon makes me sob (complimentary) every time I read it. Support @emoria.bsky.social, buy trans media, and stay living!

@lolzygag.bsky.social messaged me a while ago to say Aftertaste cracked her egg. Last night, she wrote, "This book tricked me. This book made me laugh. This book made me cry. This book made me scream. This book made me love. This book made me feel. This book broke me. This book saved me."

This book tricked me. This book made me laugh. This book made me cry. This book made me scream. This book made me love. This book made me feel.

This book broke me.

This book saved me.

I can't say it enough, so thank you again, Emoria. Thank you for this beautiful, wonderful thing you created, for all the people, including me, that you've helped in some small but enormous way, and for putting this piece of yourself into the world. Thank you.
