I'm so burned out right now and 90% of it is from just, stuff I or another mom without formal employment has gotta do because if it doesn't happen the community is going to unravel irreparably. And meanwhile that labor pool is shrinking and the need is only growing

And it's true of most moms outside formal workplaces that I know right now, we are just constantly jumping to catch people in our lives before they fall. Because (as @jessicacalarco.com rightly puts it) women are the social safety net in this country

Reading that tradwife-as-stale-trend piece and it has me thinking how my ACTUAL experience as a woman with small kids at home is. How most of the work isn't the cute home stuff. It's community support stuff because often moms without formal jobs are the only ones who can fill the gaps on the fly

This is what happened 5-10 years ago in the UK. Journalistic seriousness was stripped from trans journalists and columnists despite trans topics dominating headlines.

the best HS teams in the country have multiple guys who will be in the NBA in a couple of years. they aren't normal high schools, they're basketball factories. but this literally doesn't matter. the value of women's sports isn't contingent on their performance vis a vis men.
