Modesty in the Bible wasn't about how much skin a woman was or wasn't showing on her body. It was about how people would flaunt their wealth and status against the poor, the very people they were exploiting to obtain that wealth. We need to think about that more as a people.

You know that image of the woman knitting while watching the guillotines work? Also just saw a comment on the incel techbros trying to steal women's power not being ready for gen x/xennial women in perimenopause when the *ready to watch it all burn* mood hits. Just sayin...

It's really something to see how much the world is being shaped by like ten extremely wealthy guys who all happen to be cartoonishly evil, dumb as hell, and complete fucking losers

Med rationing has commenced. Consequences have commenced. Grumpiness at entire situation continues and climbs. Resistance (ptsd) to requirements necessary to correct problem starting to lean one direction but still stronger than currently able to overcome.

My Dr, 2 moves ago, put me on a maintenance medicine that has been handling multiple issues. The current new Dr doesn't have time or interest to know about those issues but declared that medicine (and other things) use invalid. That medicine needs renewed and I feel trapped.

I started with 3 small aloe plants maybe 10 years ago? I think one died. They've had babies since then. I keep trying to offer some to people, but I don't really know any fellow plant people. I had a vague idea they might be useful, but mostly they're just there. I enjoy watching the wildness, tho.

Picture of the bottom of my plant shelves, specifically to show off my wildly overgrown aloe with limbs in all directions like Medusa and a fuscia overglow from the grow lights. Also visible: succulents, mint, ivy(?), and citronella geranium.

I think it should be a larger mainstream story that every American should be aware of that abortion was only made an issue because it had become a political liability to be racist out loud.

This is a famous Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) in its autumn colors, located in the Portland Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon (USA). The tree is a popular subject for landscape photographers. The photographer behind this particular shot is the American landscape photographer Mike Putnam.

The image presents a vibrant, full-frame shot of a highly sculptural Japanese maple tree (Acer palmatum) taken during its peak autumn display.

It's always frustrating watching shows where different writers maintain distinctly different character profiles for the same characters. One writes her as feisty & intelligent, another writes her as diffident & dim. One writes a group as finally working out issues, another has them always at odds.

sociopaths have this skill innately.) So when I see reels like this one, after my eyes widen at how foolish folks are, my jaw drops at how masterfully their own ignorance has been exploited & *leveraged* to convince them that their only safety is in the arms of policy makers who will abuse them.

It’s one reason incumbents have such advantages—over time, they can get real help for enough constituents that through word of mouth people decide to support them regardless of their politics.

Very notably, Democrats and Republicans have gotten the primary boot because of this exact stuff. Nothing to do with policy. Just horrible constituent services.

People think the job of a senator is to go on TV or post on Instagram all the time. But the easiest way to get re-elected is to do stuff like help farmers with their aid, help grandmas with their Social Security checks or a Marine with his VA complaint.

"After weighing these factors, Paulk has decided for the first time in his life to cast a ballot for a Democrat -- Ossoff. He doesn't agree with him on all issues -- notably, abortion -- but it's Ossoff's help in getting federal aid after Helene wreaked havoc on Paulk's grape crop that won his vote"

"... when politicians won't act, the people can." Phrase on a political ad regarding a ballot issue to inform the public. But this bit says so much in such a short phrase. I think we all need to remember it.
