It's not really a debate. People have different preferences, and that's fine. I used to be a big snob against well done steak until I started cooking more. At the end of the day, cooking is about hospitality. If someone wants a well-done steak, then it's my duty as a host to try to make them happy.

Rooftop solar hardwires into your main panel via a dedicated breaker, so it requires a permit, an installer, an electrician, and a utility agreement. Balcony solar just plugs into a wall outlet, sharing an existing circuit with no permits or rewiring.
Fun fact: I had a cat named Simon, and I talked about him SO MUCH, people thought he was my husband. @christiancarnouche.bsky.social met my ACTUAL husband ( @ajschultz.bsky.social ) and thought that HE was Simon.

something i learned at the xiv panel yesterday is that when you meet whomever from sqnx and give them a little trinket or wol sticker, those things often wind up in a special part of the sqnx office just for them, so that devs who don’t travel for events like fanfest can see and love them too. 🥺

At this point I think I've homebrewed all the old consoles I can, and I'm pretty happy with my current computer. I don't feel like keeping up with hardware anymore thanks to the costs. The plan now is to just play what I have. When everything breaks down I'll just bounce a ball or something.

I managed a datacentre. We employed eight people. Nine if you count the occasional fire or electrical inspector. A hospital or school has a bigger net impact on a community, and it’s not close.
Right. I think even if the ethical problems weren't there, any worth that comes from an AI can only be produced by people who already have the expertise to ask it the right questions and catch it when it's wrong.

One of the guys in my ffxiv raid group was a nursing student. He just happened to graduate and start working full-time right around the time the pandemic hit. Apparently his mom was also a nurse, and he said he saw more death in two weeks than she saw in her entire career.

We wrote our wills and worried about getting our kids sick. I posted about terrifying outcomes in kids and received death threats. Fauci is a goddamn hero.
