This is a beautiful book and was only $15 including shipping from UK. Next time you give yourself a 'little treat,' make it this book.

People discovering this book via Bluesky hasn't made a significant difference to its exposure in the wider world yet. But maybe one day it will. International copies with free delivery here: blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/pro... Or if you'd like a signed one from me, with free art, email me at...

I was moved to hear from a trans former student this week about how much it helped her figure out her gender expression to read Jan Morris in my class back in 2018. I always introduce Morris as a trans pioneer, and that was who she needed to find. A reminder that a syllabus can change lives.

Kaho Nakayama's "Sparkling Rain" (translated by Kimberly Hughes) is the title story of the only English-language anthology of Japanese lesbian fiction, Sparkling Rain and Other Fiction from Japan of Women Who Love Women (edited by Barbara Summerhawk and Kimberly Hughes).

Ok I want to hand her a pencil or a pen with archival ink. Yet I also feel he should be shown the door wanting to control what you do with books you have bought… red flag.

Today's You Be The Judge in @theguardian.com is whether or not a woman is allowed to annotate her own books. As someone who is literally curating an exhibition on the history of annotations in books, let me tell you her boyfriend's argument is total BS: theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

This Minoan wine jug is made in the Kamares style. Although it’s now admired for its almost modernist geometric patterns, those two swirls resemble a stylised sea horse (perhaps intentionally). Marine animals were very common in Minoan pottery. 🕰️2,100-1,700BC 🏛️Heraklion museum 📷Wolfgang Sauber

The last government claimed in a report we don’t have institutionalised racism, yet our organisations and media yet again shows we do and that people will feed its flames with no care of the consequences. The scars just keep getting deeper, and more communities and children pay the price.

This may be my inner American coming out but that noise means “tornado” or “wildfire approaching your neighbourhood” or “active shooter on campus” not don’t do stupid shit

My uni have just withdrawn Geography, History & Geography and Politics & Geography undergrad courses run from our Penryn campus. Terrible for Cornwall. How did the staff find out? When UCAS clearing opened at 8am 😡
