Label manager of Bikini Kill Records, bass player of Hurry Up, Immigration things over at Unbreaking.org. Honk if you like dogs. PNW'er currently exiled in East Tennessee.

good reminder that before the counting is over, election results don’t tighten. at no point is anyone trailing. nobody moves closer. they’re just tabulating the polls. it’s a fixed number that just isn’t done yet. to say otherwise is bad journalism but even worse math.

I'm just over here comparing maps of where my uncle's cabin is with the latest lake chelan fire news. looks like they are still at level 1 but not far from level 2. I don't like this 21st century reality.

Immigration news has been SO MUCH to keep track of as it's everywhere all at once, all the time. Collaboration with local cops, new rules for visas and green cards proposed regularly, so many lawsuits attempting to rein in the administration, courts and DHS stripping people of their legal status.

We added so many events to the Immigration timeline this round that our one-paragraph briefing turned into three. 1/9 unbreaking.org/blog/briefin...

What I hate about COVID downplayers is… you won okay. In the aftermath of humanity coming together to develop the most crucial vaccines of our lifetime & collectively sacrificing to save lives, we are now less safe, less vaccinated & less empathetic than ever. You won ok. Lay down your swords.

since this has now happened several times this week i feel the need to say that cis people trying to “well, actually” me (or any other trans person) on the fascist dissolution of our rights and the engines thereof just isn’t going to go well. if you feel challenged by something i said, sit with it

Most rural areas have a ruling class. And they want cheap unfree workers & to pass their fiefdoms on tax-free forever. It ain't rocket science. The fact that we're scared to talk about THAT, ime, is what's costing us a lot of rural voters!

So our farm flooded last week and we didn't get our CSA. I have gone a week and a half without fresh greens (other than herbs) and this romaine I'm eating right now might be the best lettuce I've ever had. I missed it so much.

I liked Nolan‘s Odyssey and found aspects problematic. I liked Emily Wilson’s takedown and found aspects problemaric. I liked Joyce Carole Oates’ takedown of Emily Wilson’s takedown of Nolan’s Odyssey and found aspects problematic. I liked (wake me when the next dagger is dropped thru the ceiling)

As of this week, hundreds of thousands of Haitians lost their legal status. Most have lost work permits as well. That's left many people unable to support themselves. Here is a verified link to a fundraiser supporting Haitians in Springfield. Please drop links to other fundraisers in the replies.

While we are in this Greek Mythology moment, may I remind you that Emma Thompson is adapting Pat Barker’s take on The Iliad, and she’s struggled to get it made bc the focus on what acts of war against women and survival thereafter actually look like (the core of Barker’s narrative) is too intense.

Emma Thompson adapting feminist retelling of Iliad for big screen

The actress told the Hay Festival she is writing a film version of Pat Barker’s The Silence of the Girls to draw attention to sexual abuse in war zones

got a pallet of records delivered today and the delivery man was VERY excited to talk to me. he had just inherited someone's vinyl collection (and stereo) and while he's really into some of it he's not into all of it. he figured I could give him advice on how to asses what it's worth.

So, he has TOTALLY recovered from this but he has discovered that if he limps when he sees me that I am likely to give him treats. So he now walks up to me, totally normal, and then does one BIG exaggerated limp, stops, and smiles.

we returned from a matinee to find the elderly puppy had fallen in the hallway and couldn't get up on his own. I have no idea how long he'd been there. I guess we are now in the stage of he cannot be left home alone.
