If anyone was wondering, I have never and will never use AI in my writing. I am extremely anti-AI for so many reasons (Theft! Environmental damage! etc. etc.), and I have no interest in outsourcing my creativity to a machine built from extraction and oppression.

I was literally thinking the same lately. My newsletter has had a "story behind the story" section for years. My books have story notes. I enjoy that and my readers seem to too, but I'd hate for that to be a requirement.
I'm one of those authors who enjoys talking about my stories, why I made certain choices, what ideas I was going for, etc. (its why all my short story collections include authors notes) But I'd hate if that became the default expectation for most writers because of concerns around AI nonsense.
Maybe the real cake is the subscribers we made along the way 🎂 www.heartlines-spec.com

I am overjoyed that the Poetry Hugo Award has once again PASSED. It will need to be re-ratified in 2029 to be officially officially permanent. Complicated rules aside, thank you to everyone who voted or supported this goal. Us poets truly love y'all! To read more about this see poetryhugo.com

And we now have an OFFICIAL HUGO AWARD FOR BEST POEM! (until at least 2029, heh) (when we get to do all of this ratification stuff AGAIN)
I used a lot more acrylic inks on this one, letting the inks pour and run across the paper and then painting over the top of them once they dried. I really like the effect! "All That Will Grow" Watercolor, acrylic ink, gouache, and color pencils.
Working on a new piece; thinking about star thistles, how in the western US they are an invasive and noxious weed that readily takes over land that has been disturbed and degraded. or something.
This is so important. Please if you are going to #LAConV and care even a little bit about #specpo it would mean so much if you could find some time in your day to come to the WSFS meeting and vote.
I realize I am radically annoying on this topic but once again, a reminder that the vote to ratify the speculative poetry Hugo award is July 26 and if you love speculative poetry or just wish you could win a Hugo for a haiku, please consider voting/speaking at the meeting! poetryhugo.com
