Pubic Service Announcement The Vagina Museum is trans inclusive. Always has been, always will be. Today the new EHRC Code of Practice comes into effect. Let us be clear, the guidance changes nothing about how we operate.

I appreciate Sacha for several reasons, and one of them here is also to say "No, we're not the main target so please don't let me take away from the focus on trans people. But also this is part of a broader pattern that surely you must understand."
Let's talk about JK Rowling's 'bearded men'... I want to vent something that's been on my mind: The way transphobic groups and individuals are also actively homophobic. I've experienced it first hand, and know many others have too. 1/
Shorter Telegraph musings on Liddle: “well yes he beat his pregnant partner, was a racist and a homophobe and a misogynist and a bully and a terrible writer, but have you considered that all this is good actually.”
I promise the toys don’t cost nearly as much as my complete nervous breakdown would if anything happened to mine.
Someone once told me that it's "classist" to advocate for people to have indoor cats because you need to buy them lots of expensive toys. Marcel has been playing with the discarded stem of a fresh green bean for 20 minutes. 🤷♀️
So it turns out, @notalawyer.bsky.social, that Eric Adams is the modern Lord Nelson: winning the battle even after his own demise. All that needs to happen now is for him to be pickled in a cask. (Does this make this the Battle of Ratfalgar?)
Could the answer to reducing rats in New York City really be as simple as putting garbage into trash cans? Yes, actually.
It's not quite the point but dipping into the talk around Arday and the Ph.D. process and it feels *criminal* to me how little supervision there is for doctoral students. I remember telling some colleagues in UK and DE about the more-or-less weekly meetings with my supervisor and they were aghast.
i'd say "pay attention to who has kind things to say about rod liddle, the racist pedophile, following his death" but to no surprise it is the entirety of the mainstream british press
It’s VERY INTERESTING, I think, that the people who use “safeguarding girls” as one of the justifications for their vile transphobia are eulogising a man who declared openly and in print that he would not have been able to resist sexually assaulting barely pubescent girls if he’d become a teacher.
The recently deceased Rod Liddle here talking about sleeping with school children. Presumably writing these articles gave him less time for pushing his pregnant partner down the stairs. He was a dreadful, despicably, awful, homophobic, sexist, and racist scumbag. Now he’s dead.
Here's some of his work
This gentleman is correct that this is a genuinely unpopular take, largely because it is so wildly backwards it’s silly.
I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
Man in my quiet compartment listening to accordion music on speaker and playing…I guess air accordion?
I mean yes it’s rank homophobia, yes this should ordinarily make any queer people in their life deeply nervous about their reflexive bigotry, but have you considered: they’re posting about Hegseth so that makes it okay. CHECKMATE.
Far too many to count but Actually, Introspective, Behaviour for me.
What's the best three album run from a band? (the correct answer is Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure by Rush, but I'm excited to learn second place)
If Amnesty UK is on your donations list, remove them. If you are considering making a charitable donation, or organizing a fundraiser, loudly announce Amnesty won't get a penny of it so long as they capitulate to transphobia.
Amnesty have issued an apology to JK Rowling and the rest. Adjust your expectations, and donations, accordingly www.amnesty.org.uk/latest/an-ap...
My least interesting confession is that it’s only because of @michaelhobbes.bsky.social and @notalawyer.bsky.social that I know how to pronounce Ross Douthat’s surname. I’d only seen it written and the whole time I’d thought it was “Doot-Hat.”
Fun fact (not) : after the 2018 Toronto attack, where a lookist (incel) militant killed 11 and injured 15, Ross Douthat penned an opinion piece where he leaned into incel propaganda and advocated for a 'fairer' distribution of women's bodies among men.
' "Ross is one of the preeminent public intellectuals in America today, a thinker of uncommon rigor and a journalist of deep empathy," Bilton said. ' So those are words that have happened. www.cbsnews.com/news/60-minu...
Hm, have my 14 minutes of productivity passed for today? Time will tell. But now to decide if it's worth braving it still being 33 degrees outside to walk to the supermarket to grab some stuff for dinner. At least the sun is starting to wane.
I'm currently (unevenly) writing a journal article at the moment about a Met Police raid on an illegal brothel that unexpectedly uncovered a trans woman as a madam—and all the legal conundrums that caused for the cops—and my god the ingenuity of queer solidarity is both heart-wrenching and bracing.
Jo has a cool origin story here. Mine is less interesting: "The Man Without A Tan" is a song I really enjoy from the 2015 collab between Franz Ferdinand and Sparks. It helps that I don't tan; I'm either paper-white or I burn immediately. The "man" bit is a category error. youtu.be/W4fr--h3msM?...

My mum just asked me 'where did you get the name Hagenilda from?' I've been asked this a few times so here you go: In 2009 I was doing an MA in Medieval Studies at UCL and doing INTENSE palaeography training with the legendary crack team of Marigold Norbye and David d'Avray. It was EXCELLENT. /1
*LinkedIn promptly disappears into its own singularity*
Oh my God, this is not a drill - LinkedIn has added 'seems like AI slop' as an option on posts Genuinely thought it was a joke until I clicked on a few posts
That certain gentleman challenged me to tell him something that had become worse; apparently that wasn't what he was hearing. I didn't take the bait because there are *years and reams* of extremely common complaints that he could read if he bothered. Or, I guess, if the search function still worked.
There was a chap from Microsoft on here the other day proselytising about how much users love AI in Office 365. Anyway, here is what my outlook looks like

Okay first off, nobody follow this upstream to dunk, op is not the only one to make an Epstein comment But i need all of you, ALL OF YOU, to internalise the fact that the issue with Epstein was the paedophilia and rape. Not sex. Sex is morally fine. Rape is bad. Stop making these comments.
I’m getting really fed up with people equating consenting adults fucking around to a paedophilic trafficking ring Those are two extremely fucking different things

As a young grad student I gave a paper where I offered a (pretty lukewarm tbh) take that too much of German historiography adopts Fritz Fischer's conclusions. One eminence grise interrupted to ask what my name was and, when I said, he narrowed his eyes and muttered: "...I'll remember you."
Hey 🧪! I was just reminiscing with a friend about the time a very senior academic called a mid-career guy's work "completely meaningless" at a meeting and now I want to hear your best (public, academic) disses
Man, I remember the days when I wasn't immobilised by a sort of executive paralysis when trying to get *anything* done. I'm really, honestly, trying to keep my hopes up. But it's hard not to want to crawl away and cry for a bit.
