Today I discovered that a letter attributed to a man was actually written by Ann Bathurst, the 17th-century visionary woman I’m researching. 🤩 Archival work might be slow and painstaking but it’s totally thrilling to be going in search of lost voices from the past and finding them! 📚

21 years ago today, Canada became the 4th country in the world, and 1st outside of Europe, to legalize same-sex marriage. The sky didn’t fall. Hell didn’t break loose. Only Canada’s capacity for love and acceptance increased. Now over 30+ countries have followed Canada’s lead.

Living without a car in much of America sucks. Given that, there are two options: 1. Give everyone a car (which will increase traffic and emissions) 2. Make it suck less to get around without a car (which will decrease traffic and emissions) I don't know about you, but #2 seems better.

Nobody disputes that having access to a car in a car-dominated society is good. It gives one access to jobs, healthcare, food, education, social opportunities and more. All we're asking is for people to go one step deeper and ask why access to such basic rights requires buying and operating a car.

Reminder that Carney has cut funding for Natural Resources Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Indigenous and Northern Affairs, and Indigenous Services. And he has rolled back climate protections, abandoned emissions targets, and is building more pipelines.
