Liberal Alaskan nerd. (She/her) Posting about politics, feminism, X-men, Star Wars, knitting, cats, gymnastics, aesthetics & maybe some neurodivergence or whatever else catches my attention.

If Katelyn Ohashi & Shilese Jones win Olympic medals in LA, I will never ask for anything ever again except for an end to fascism & health for my family.

I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”

When guys are like “that’s not rape, all my friends have done that,” that’s exactly what we’re talking about. That’s the problem. Rape is so common and unpunished that a guy could casually reveal all his friends are rapists and not see it as a problem.

One of my hardest-won political lessons is that it’s never, ever worth it to treat ppl as ~indispensable no matter what they do~ —bc we *see* the contributions & potential of the abusive men & we don’t get to see that in the women they drive out. We never actually get to know what we’ve squandered

this dynamic described by jenny racicot is, as i understand it, very common among progressive women in maine. they’ve been put in an impossible position and feel like they’re tanking platner’s campaign when in reality he did that on his own by being a violent and reckless person.

“One of the reasons I didn’t come forward sooner was, the huge moral conflict that I had between supporting his politics, but not supporting him as a person,” she said. “I just want the truth out there. I just want people to have a whole scope of who he is as a person.”

May we rage when we must and rest when we can. May we build the peace that we so desperately need. May we turn our hands, in all things, to the justice that peace requires. The only liberation is a shared liberation. May we have courage sufficient to build it. Shabbat shalom ❤️

Sending love and hugs to everyone for whom today is ..difficult, itchy, complicated. From parents we miss and mourn, to parents who weren't who we needed, from children we were unable to have, to those we struggled deeply with. All the love, forgiveness, and gentleness you need on this day.

how about let's *not* compromise on trans people in sports, and instead compromise on nothing. you can't compromise on liberation. anyone trying to say that we 'need' to is a coward, plain and simple
