This device is one of the less-discussed reasons Jurassic Park's CGI holds up so well. The movement in a lot of early CGI is very snappy and robotic, but having the dinosaurs animated by veteran stop-motion artists by hand largely avoided that.

An effective use of the full range of tools available at the time: animatronics, practical models, CGI, stop-motion... The DID (Dinosaur Input Device) armature by @tippettstudio.bsky.social enabled stop-motion animators to produce computer animation without learning animation software programs.
