My new job is securing funding for First Nations housing, and holy shit, Mark Carney has done so much damage to these programs, which were already utterly inadequate. Carney is pure evil and a colonialist to his core.

MARVEL SNAPDATE: first kick at Fractured Frontier Thanos, using a Wiccan/Surfer shell because the synergies seem to work. Not perfect yet but there's definitely something here.

4: Wong, Wiccan
5: Thanos Fractured Frontier

BREAKING: With a major dump from the back corner of the bag, purple Skittles have just overtaken yellow ones in the race for "which color has the most Skittles in this bag" with 54.7% of the Skittles reporting, but yellow is looking to make a comeback when I count the ones that fell on the floor

I know there's some complaints that the climax of this one goes a little too MCU-safe CGI overload, but I'm sorry man Shang-Chi merging the distinctive fighting styles of his father and mother into a new whole in order to explode a demon kaiju from the inside is some goddamn poetic cinema.

Rewatching SHANG-CHI, surprised to remember that it anticipates how gracefully DDC captures a truly 'comic book' feel to a shared universe. Stuff like the throwaway appearances by Extremis users, the Wong/Abomination drop-in, those feel like glimpses of a huge continuing world vs. disposable cameos.

We watched the first season of RUNNING POINT and it was fun, so now we're watching the second session and the Ali in Toronto plotline is... I'm facepalming a lot, let's leave it at that

this is a drum I will beat about Spider-Man any time the subject of his day job is raised: for nearly twenty years we've been saddled with "Peter's day job is Scientist" because comics writers haven't realized he's not a Tony Stark or Reed Richards regardless of how brilliant he might be

Spider-Man hasn't fully left the Daily Bugle behind because J. Jonah Jameson is one of the all-time support cast members, but Peter Parker has been removed from being a photojournalist for so long that I do really miss it as a flavor.

I don't either, but: the thing about being predisposed to certain types of addiction is that people who aren't predisposed that way never get it. At best we can understand that it *is* addictive and said addiction is bad, but that's an intellectual understanding, not a gut one.

As a confirmed dopamine addict who has thrown myself off bridges and out of a plane in the past chasing some of that sweet stuff, I genuinely don't get it
