Author of THE BONE BRIDES (Sept 29, 2026, Page Street). Theatre director. Occasional anime panelist. Once jammed a knife into my leg while carving a pumpkin. Queerer and queerer. She/her. Rep: Hannah Andrade https://linktr.ee/marleyroseteter

Just looked up a word in the book I'm reading that I wasn't familiar with: "sith." Turns out I am actually VERY familiar with it...but I know it as "sidhe." The former is the Scottish Gaelic spelling; the latter is the Irish Gaelic spelling. Both are pronounced "shee." I freaking love language.

I have bad chronic dry-eye. Among other things to manage it, I use eye-drops ~every 3 hrs. Which is to say, I am Good at Eye-drops. But when they've been sitting in the sun (such as in my greenhouse of a study) and are super-warm, I can't FEEL them hit my eye, and it results in such a mess! o_O;;;;

I know people are tired and overworked, but I feel like oftentimes they’re offloading a creative (and, on some level, rewarding) activity to free up time that they’ll ultimately spend scrolling on their phones—thereby further reducing their brains to mush. it’s a vicious cycle of meaninglessness

Whenever I see one of those "movie you've watched more than x times HARD MODE: no Marvel, Star Wars, LotR," I'm always just like......I have never seen a single Marvel movie; I've only seen the original Star Wars and only once; I don't know if I can say I've seen LotR or not because I fell asleep...

Benjamin Alire Sáenz has passed away. It was fighting to keep his Aristotle and Dante in our curriculum that resulted in my leaving my teaching job---a fight I have never regretted. I heard him on a panel once: incredibly soft-spoken. Every other rowdy author on that staged hushed to hear him.

Why 5 read THE BONE BRIDES? 5⃣ Grimm‑coded fairy tale logic. 4⃣ Portals to a world that magical & mythic 3⃣ Grief & depression portrayed insightfully, without sensationalism. 2⃣ A sapphic Orpheus‑coded quest. 1⃣ A story about becoming who you truly are, not who you think you must perform. #booksky

Flatlay featuring the advanced reading copy of The Bone Brides by Marley Rose‑Teter centered on a bright silver‑grey background. Around the book are scattered puzzle pieces in floral and patterned designs, a black candle dusted with glitter, a lavender trinket box with a classical white relief, and a single pink flower. The arrangement creates a soft, symbolic moodboard reflecting themes of grief, identity, hope, and self‑acceptance. Clean, minimalist aesthetic; sapphic fantasy; Toppling Stacks tour image

Before I'd so much as gotten in the door at my first anime convention, a stranger tackle-hugged me while shouting the character I was cosplaying's name. The con no longer allows such consentless "glomping" (good!), but I will always cherish that first, welcoming hug to my weirdo self.

OK, we've had the talk about bullying and the discourse that's been bubbling today. Let's do something positive: What as your coolest, most favorite experience as an anime fan? Doesn't have to be anything special, just has to be something that you remember fondly.

It’s nice to see everyone’s textual analysis of The Odyssey It’s almost like the humanities give you entertainment, feelings, pleasure, and fun/interesting stuff to talk about, as well as lenses into both past and current society

Wahooo!! Poetry is a tiny piece of one soul speaking out to a tiny piece of another---and thus, is far from some stodgy dead thing. Poetry is for everyone, and it's wonderful to have that recognized <333

The poetry Hugo is a go! At least until 2029, as there's a policy of re-ratifying new categories three years later. Thank you to @hollylynwalrath.bsky.social, @bugthewriter.bsky.social, @therisingtithes.bsky.social, and everybody else who made this happen!

My 13 month-old loves playing with my flip-phone, which mostly involves opening and closing it and giving it the occasional lick. But yesterday he managed to call his dad at work, which, wow, good job picking whom to mouth-dial, kid.
