sometimes my oldest kid and I struggle to find topics in common, but this morning he turned to me and said "Louis Vuitton is some bullshit," and I said "yep," so I think we're good for a while.
ok seriously also like...are you all looking at the accuracy stats these companies are reporting, because they are *wild* and 0 access is being given to the underlying datasets used to make their claims
I'm just gonna say: it somewhat baffles me that people who are understandably skeptical of opaque LLMs as legitimate sources of information will suddenly go full on "the computer KNOWS" when they are using opaque tools to "detect" AI. The computer does not know.
welp, I have surprised my husband with foster-dogs before, and there is some chance he's about to do the same thing to me. turn about is fair play?
happy There Will Come Soft Rains day (reformed) to all who celebrate
the first time THERE WILL COME SOFT RAINS was published, in the May 6th 1950 issue of Collier's, the date the robo-house says is "April 28, 1985"
If this was true I wouldn't have a career. Every step of the way other authors offered guidance and advice, with generosity and kindness. But I would add a caveat. If you spend a lot of time being a dick to other people, the amount of guidance and advice you get will be....less.
Seeing complaints online that authors 'gatekeep' information…! Absolute nonsense. There is no industry or craft in the world which is so comprehensively written about, studied, and discussed as fiction writing, and every author I know welcomes new writers who are serious about giving it a go.
are you fucking kidding me seth moulton this is how you get a forest of ed markey signs. I wasn't mad enough to work on it before but I am now.
I searched for ed markey in jmail.world, after tonight's debate after seth moulton said he was in the epstein files, but there's no there, there. Shame on Seth Moulton.
This is beautiful.

I want RFK to sit in a chair and be forced to say the names of my patients who died from Covid. Over and over again. Over and over again. Over and over again. That's all he will be allowed to do.
RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>
It's been 7 days since Amal last had a donation. So it's still $319/3000. She's got so many needs but all we've managed to do really is chip away at the pharmacy debt and help get a few essentials. Nasser's been without his medication now for at least a month. www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-gi...

So I did hear from her, thank Goodness. But things haven't got any easier. The most recent transfer was only enough to partly pay the pharmacy debt and get a few essentials. She's in her 8th month of pregnancy and in dire need of a bassinet for her new baby. www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-gi...
Idea for a writing workshop called "Writing Wrong," where you take a list of things writers shouldn't do and then read examples of writers doing those exact things from books you like.
I can vouch for Archita, who recently lost her father to cancer & is the sole caregiver for her mother who's also suffering from cancer & needs extensive and very costly treatment. She's all alone and struggling to bear the costs. Please share widely & donate if you can:
Neither my physical nor mental health is great, but I'm NOT giving up. I urgently need funds for our healthcare, so please circulate/donate if you can, and if you're able to help out in any other way, pls DM. You can donate via Gpay/UPI QR code (if you're in India) or ko-fi: Ko-fi.com/architamittra

one thing about Odyssey discourse I do enjoy is that the poem is weirder and more inexhaustible than discussion of it. and that is obviously _saying_ something.
here's a bit of a @reckoningmag.bsky.social Odyssey tie-in (and also its own self) from issue 7: a poem about Limulus polyphemus--the horseshoe crab--by Cristina Legarda. reckoning.press/how-to-place...
How to Place an Intravenous Line | Reckoning
The Atlantic horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus, is not a crab at all— more an ancient, armored spider, here 500 million years. Choose the right vessel: long and straight. Choose a good insertion poin...
