I've got a new review up at ARB. This one is, I think, of a book in strong contention for the best I've read so far this year. It's got language and culture, ambiguity and sexy prose, and a depth that welcomes multiple readings. It's really very good.

I recently completed a draft chapter in my current project that made me wonder: why doesn't queer criticism of fantasy literature/media engage more w/ queer cultures at large? W/ a few exceptions (you know who you are!), if fantasy criticism does engage w/ queer culture it's usually online fandom.
