It's true. When I was a kid in the 80s reading Asterix or Enid Blyton I was constantly frustrated by having the narrative trance broken by the conspicuous lack of fax machines, Pepsi, MTV, Sony Walkmans and the neoliberal modal shift of capitalism to the accumulation of profit through disposession.
