Caught a small chunk of Christian Marclay’s THE CLOCK at LACMA (~3:50-4:23). Didn’t realize how much it would make you think less about when a clock is on screen and more when time is given in the script—not just for suspense (“you have one hour”) but by characters often getting the time wrong

I didn't notice until now that Rutger Hauer's character in BATMAN BEGINS--the jackass interim CEO of Wayne Enterprises--really looks like Donald Trump, at the time a famous billionaire celebrity

Douthat at 60 Min is a misunderstanding of his talents. This is not someone you want to see do investigative journalism, you want him to earnestly believe a demon might live inside a computer and to quiz an AI engineer about Carl Schmitt to find out if it’s true

Puzzled by this view of retail investors that seems to assume they have rationally chosen to throw money they can’t afford at the largest growing industry in the market, the core of which is a mystical machine every wealthy person promises will be the most important tool in human history

i am a retail investor. my strongest belief is that the nonconsensual pornography machine the government uses to kill children is worth twenty five trillion dollars

Foiled by three different AI apartment booking failures in two days during my hunt down in LA. One sent me to a ghost address halfway across town and gave me a phone number for the wrong agent. Maybe if I give it my social security number it would work better

SCOOP: So remember Dialog, Peter Thiel's private society that doesn't have a public website and no public list of members? I (along with a number of other journalists) have just been tipped off that embedded in the code of their closed off website there IS what seems to be a list of some members.

Per another poster’s point: Republicans have tried to destroy plaintiff’s lawyers, Planned Parenthood, labor unions, ACORN, tenured faculties, and other groups perceived as leaning left for as long as I’ve been alive. Yes, slippery slopes, etc. — but turnabout isn’t just fair play, it’s deterrence.

I feel it’s sort of underrated the extent to which a Dem Congress and/or states could (1) absolutely destroy car dealerships as a business, and (2) this would cripple a lot of GOP state and local parties
