atproto.nyc - July 2026

Join us once again for pizza, a few short talks, and a whole lot of atmospheric conversation! ## When The evening of Tuesday, July 7, 2026. - Come at 5 to help set up - Doors at 5:30 - Pizza at 6 or so - Talks around 6:30 (likely for ~an hour) No hard end time but we'll probably wind down by 8:30ish. ## Where The Hidden Door office at 314 Dean St in Brooklyn, just a couple blocks from Atlantic Terminal. ## Talks We're still putting together the lineup, check back later and reach out if you're interested in presenting! ## FAQ **Q**: Do I have to buy a ticket? **A**: Not at this time — but we're still figuring out sustainable funding, so 1) please let us know if you'd like to sponsor or know an org who we should talk to, and 2) we'll be accepting optional sliding-scale donations at the event (~$10-20 suggested). Thanks! **Q**: Can I speak at a future event? **A**: Sure, please reach out if you're interested! Both technical and non-technical topics very welcome. We'd love to hear how you built your new project, see your plan for bringing local communities to the Atmosphere, or participate in a quick design jam. Send ideas, we'll curate a good balance! ## Contact Reach out to @schlage.town with questions, or if you'd like to join a Signal chat for local organizers. Follow @atproto.nyc and https://blog.atproto.nyc for updates :) Special thanks to Hilary, Matt, and the @hiddendoor.co team for generously sharing their space! And to Bluesky for helping cover food/drinks!

"Instead of trying to specify it in full details, you specify it only somewhat. You then ride on the dynamics of the system in the direction you want to go." - Stafford Beer, 1972, “Brain of the Firm”

New Leaflet Landing Page!!! ⬇️ 🌱 🍃 🌿 🌳 ⬇️ leaflet.pub ⬆️ 🌳 🌿 🍃 🌱 ⬆️ or if you're logged in — leaflet.pub/about ~pub dashboard demo ~high level "why leaflet" ~links to some fave pubs ~free vs leaflet pro Let us know any feedback / q's. Also want to add more comprehensive documentation soon!

Hero image of a green sub dappled forest on a hillside with three little hand-sketched figures climbing, one helping another. Overlaid in large green text at the top: Leaflet. Below, buttons "log in" and "start writing" and below that, the line "Delightful writing and effortless publishing, to connect with your community — whether you're writing a blog, newsletter, or secret third thing."

Thinking about the different tumblr post types and especially about how fun it was to decide how your theme should handle each post type. Could be a fun atproto/blog extension. Could also be fun to have an llm agent with tools to build out post types and display on-demand.

i don't talk about it much, but PROTOTYPING WIKIPEDIA (my current day job) is completely fascinating and thrilling to me. it's a combination of technical.. creative.. design challenges. it's also a people thing how do i bring a prototyping practice to a megalithic organisation and tech stack?

Jay seized a historical moment and speed-ran Bluesky through some wild times. I'm glad she's found her own way back to the big picture. have had great conversations with @toni.bsky.team about standards work and open source governance. very important to have continuity of clueful leadership!
