It's amazing how drivers who cannot see cyclists, pedestrians or road furniture when you suggest that they should not crash into them suddenly become positively omniscient when someone points out that their personal observations about cyclists run counter to any & all objective evidence.

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

🧵On @thenewsagents.co.uk yesterday, school closures and the lab leak theory were offered as two examples of legitimate questions that were hard to ask. Both have in fact been asked constantly since 2020. But here's a thread on why I think they were wrong and dangerous on school closures 1/12
One thing the Terminator movies glossed over is how many people would turn Skynet Quisling if it meant they didn't have to compose an email
I think it's funny Musk is telling newspapers he doesn't want to go in the machine that turns cars into metal cubes. You're getting cubed bud.
Burnham reported to have just done a ministerial appointment deal with Labour Friends of House Harkonnen, a respected human rights group.
Andy Burnham is joining the war on historic heatwaves, on the side of historic heatwaves.

Burnham “I can’t make changes that are not in the manifesto” Labour 2024 manifesto ‘We will not issue new licenses… because they will not take a penny off bills, cannot make us energy secure and will only accelerate the worsening climate crisis’
Deeply irresponsible. We're in a climate crisis. This is such a terrible start. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
“Blunkettite” either means “racist and authoritarian” or it means nothing at all.
Andy Burnham and his chief of staff James Purnell have "described themselves as Blunkettites" after the former Home Secretary, the Times reports
Just had meeting with kiddo's school. She has been fully supported, treated with full equality & dignity for years. All of that changes from September. Full segregation & humiliation across the board. The school staff cried in the meeting. This will absolutely lead to children's deaths 1/2
Remember Streeting's review into whether young people are being overdiagnosed with ADHD, autism, and mental health issues? Well, the interim report is out, and there's a reason the media are silent on it (spoiler: it proves what a lot of us have been saying all along)
I was in the middle of a photoshoot and I turned around and this was happening
JKR and her new org apparently helped get the new Amnesty International report on how TERF organizations destroy lives taken down from their site. Well, guess what? The Streisand Effect is real. Here's the entire report in a thread. Read it. Share it.
Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.

An expanded version of my article in The National yesterday looking at a reality-based security strategy for the UK. www.commonweal.scot/articles/mag...
On a Reality-Based Security Strategy — Common Weal
As the UK gears up to strip public services to the point of causing active harm in order to fund an expansion of war against threats that cannot be named, perhaps we should be talking about the threat...

My favourite Ann Widdecombe memory is of her and her film crew lumbering after a sex worker screeching "Aren't you ashamed?!" and immediately getting hit in the face with a can of lager.
The UK has now said it will actively harm or damage: *Chemistry *Nursing *High-end physics *Languages *Astronomy *Creative arts *Theatre and performance *Cultural industries *Europe-level science The UK has lost its mind. 🇬🇧
Cutting PIP for ADHD, autism anxiety etc is the perfect example of government policies looking to grab headlines while actually costing more. PIP helps support many people to work. Cutting it means they risk being unable to, that means more costs in the long term. 1/ inews.co.uk/news/politic...

British drama school training is the envy of the world and, as more film + TV jobs are moving to the UK, our drama schools are the backbone of a global industry. These cuts are artistic vandalism and economic stupidity.
Performing and creative arts university courses will no longer receive funding from a government teaching grant as part of “difficult decisions” about spending priorities, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has said.
