I spent the weekend hanging with a close friend and their extended family. Their 19 year old cousin, who they haven't seen in years, spent the entire weekend talking to nobody, betting Kalshi markets and trading crypto. And their parents were like, oh he makes extra cash gambling.
And sometimes that hardship is due to highly speculative behavior blowing up. Crypto is another that has really taken a beating lately and that was more commonplace than you'd think among less wealthy Americans.

His choice to marry Megan is largely rooted in Dr Miller telling him that he can live an authentic life and face his past. It's just far, far too scary and he retreats.
