P.S. I would still like for people to read THE BUTCHER OF THE FOREST and then look at themselves and be like "I am 30 or 40 years old and I do not need to be the protagonist of a fairytale horror story in a magical forest" us.macmillan.com/books/978125...

the ideal academic life is being an eccentric Victorian lord. Invent a stamp licking machine at 22. Get elected to the Royal Academy for counting the beetles on your estate. Die in an arsenic explosion. The perfect life.

I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”

Our very own Jason Keeley has granted us all with the greatest gift; a JIMOTHY companion! This was just for a bit of fun, but now you can take Jimothy with you on your adventures in Pathfinder AND Starfinder! Scoop that little guy up! Get the fun rules: https://bit.ly/4fH7ViN

I swear, when it rains it pours - and life has thrown Auryn and I into the eye of a hurricane. More details on our GoFund Me, but TLDR: between being laid off, emergency surgery, and a totaled car, we're in far over our head. Any help, even boosting this post, is appreciated. gofund.me/b57cb5e96

Worth a read every year. But this year? For the 250th? It's scorching. Read it to you family or friends. Find a town square and read it out loud. Repost it. Nothing you hear today will frame this country better. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

“What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?” by Frederick Douglass

This is the perfect time to read the entirety of Frederick Douglass’s famous speech, and not merely because of the date on the calendar.

*thousand-yard stare* I am going to throw all my technology into a volcano, forswear electricity and all the trappings of so-called civilization, and move into a cave by the sea where I will write on pieces of dried kelp

If you're getting a bit too worn down by the world, I cannot encourage enough having a ten minute conversation with a seven year old about their special interest.

Time to kick the elephant out of the room: Yes, I'm one of the people Paizo's laying off, my last day being July 7th. My heart is broken to leave the best team I've ever worked with - a team I've learned so much from. If you know of any game designer or developer openings, I'd love to talk to you.

Alright, formal post time: I’m officially looking for work. I gave myself a few days to process and now it’s time to Virgo up and get moving. I have just about three years of technical editing experience, five years of development experience, and I’ve been writing to spec since 2020.

I'll say more when I can focus a bit, but for now ... While I'd love to stay in games, I'm also open to editor positions elsewhere in the publishing world. Fiction would be lovely. Before joining the games industry, I spent a decade and a half in higher ed roles that inform my work today.

GREG DAVIES: seems like a kind of a shit task. Everyone just seems like they're going home normally. ALEX HORNE: well before you say that let's have a look at how Odysseus did. cut to panel of AJAX, MENELAUS, AGAMEMNON, and DIOMEDES who are all staring at ODYSSEUS with his head in his hands
