Not to hijack this beautifully written #NAZA review by @812filmreviews.com, but this line made me go YES: "How many stories must be told from the wolf’s perspective before it stops hunting?" Basically the entire reason I started Mediaversity (and why the rating system is the way it is)

I wrote about Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor’s knotty documentary NAZA and the complexity of putting this film’s narrow POV at this moment. My review via @ebertvoices.bsky.social

The film is written, directed, and co-stars Hitoshi Ozawa, a legendary Yakuza actor who is a villain in Yakuza 0, who got his fellow legends involved. This was his passion project inspired by one of his best friends, a trans woman, and he worked with the community for representative casting.

THE CLANS HEIR IS A TRANS WOMAN (2013) is like Steven Seagal decided to Write/Direct/Star in a love letter to his trans friends, but it looks and feels like every action movie he's made... except Hitoshi Ozawa is way way way way cooler than Seagal.
