there are so many things I want to do, and I have so little capacity to do any of them, and I am so envious of non-disabled academics right now. (it's even worse because so much of the work is unpaid, so I have to balance that progress with trying to top up my insufficient income)

mmmm yes.... obtaining a new and cute little notebook will cure me of my mental illness and turn me into a shark eyed type a productivity megafucker... the last several cute new notebooks didn't, but this one will be different, surely.
this is a really lovely article about a very wonderful conference! so grateful to them for having me & to the uni of Kent graduate school fund for paying for me to go.
@miladaskalova.bsky.social, @juliamacintosh.bsky.social, Cheryl McGeachan, and Azra Khan reflect on how the conference unfolded, examining how delving into the history of madness fosters connection, belonging, and continuity for the mad present. thepolyphony.org/2026/07/31/f...

"Being a K-pop fan in an African country isn’t the same as being a fan anywhere else." I love @tabbykibugiwriter.bsky.social's latest for Fansplaining—so well-reported. Amidst hurdles these fans face (e.g., the K-pop industry treating them like an afterthought) they're finding so much joy in fandom:
African K-Pop Fans Are Building Their Own Spaces
While the K-pop industry largely ignores them, fans in Kenya and Nigeria create K-pop communities for themselves.

v likely no stream today after all folks, bodymind demands rest! <3 back either tomorrow or friday for more TC base progress, and then we also have the TC stream weekend.
Happy birthday, Frantz Fanon! "The people come to understand that wealth is not the fruit of labour but the result of organised, protected robbery. Rich people are no longer respectable people; they are nothing more than flesh eating animals, jackals and vultures which wallow in the people's blood."
This had me thinking about being disabled in other times….

Seven Misconceptions About Madness and Psychosis
Problematic assumptions abound in our stories. Let's fix that.

streaming later tonight for the opening of the Titancraft nether hub <3 see you at around 7pm BST!
so proud to have contributed to this incredible project. I am honoured to be surrounded by many incredible trans friends, who have taught and given me so much through my life, as well as to be educated by so many trans disabled & Mad elders in my work. I fight for them, & hope you will too.
It's alive! The Trans Unity Quilt is now online in its full digital archive - with enormous gratitude to every single person who contributed. This is a true vision of who the trans community are, the love and rage we share, the future we're fighting for. www.transunityquilt.com
✨ Anti-carceral care is not doing nothing ✨ Too often people assume that “anti-carceral care” means ignoring someone’s crisis, or abandoning them without support. That’s not it.
I am nonbinary trans and disabled and I am once again *begging* abled trans people to not regard the attack on trans rights as unique; attacks on disabled people and migrants are in every way part of the same project and all of us need to recognise that and act accordingly in solidarity.
I often say the rise in students coming to our dept with diagnoses of various kinds of neurodivergence has been matched with a corresponding fall of students coming with generalised depression. Because, you know. They're getting a diagnosis of the actual problem rather than feeling they don't fit.
Remember Streeting's review into whether young people are being overdiagnosed with ADHD, autism, and mental health issues? Well, the interim report is out, and there's a reason the media are silent on it (spoiler: it proves what a lot of us have been saying all along)
Last week, Amnesty Intl published a report connecting anti-trans orgs in the UK to a wider anti-rights movement. A few days later, they took it down after some of those hate groups pushed back calling it a smear. From @transnews.network, here's a 🧵of what exactly TERFs don't want you to know.
This is a HUGE disappointment from Naomi Klein. Starting a Substack in 2026 is truly wild behavior given the company's incredibly well-documented financial and editorial support of Nazis, transphobes, and other terrible pepple.
I have to assume Substack is throwing some fat stacks of cash at prominent authors to launch on the platform in 2026, in exchange for ignoring the fact the company openly embrace nazis and white supremacists for engagement
On the language of Homeric Greek, and the language of a certain forthcoming film: here are a few simple observations.
I paid the deposit on my first tattoo appointment and I'm so so excited. it's very hard to do this with my savings and have to trust myself that I'll earn it back before my last bit of PhD fees need paying next year, but I'm trying to be better at trusting myself & valuing things that matter to me!
no stream today, recovering from slightly intense couple of days of travelling. rest of the week is looking much clearer though, so I'll see you all then for more Titancraft and actually starting to build Skyhold <3
Every time this goes around I’m stunned that there are still people who’ve never seen it, this performance is to drag what the Mona Lisa is to paintings, but maybe you’ve never seen the Mona Lisa, so today is the day you shall behold it
RIP Bonnie Tyler. And RIP Tandi Iman Dupree. This remains the best stage entrance by a drag queen of all time, even some 25 years later, and the best use of Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero” ever. youtu.be/IHQA5vqn6rw?...
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨 DR UK issues our statement on the Timms Review interim report, which was published today. "With the hostile political backdrop, Disabled people are fully justified in being concerned about the scope of the Review recommendations" In full👇 www.disabilityrightsuk.org/news/dr-uk-s...
Hello friends. Can we do a mass report of this Facebook account? Intellectual property, targeted harassment etc whatever takes your fancy.
Every day, someone is normal about us on the internet. In today’s fuckery - some very unwell person has ripped off our branding to spam Facebook with ableist crap. They’re stealing people’s selfies & AI generating images to bully people directly. Oh & some people think it’s us. Awesome.
Disability benefits assessment must be redrawn as part of a “radical overhaul” as the system is “not fit for purpose,” the government’s landmark review into Pip will say. @jessicaelgot.bsky.social exclusively outlines the major early findings from Timms report. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

Jesus... I knew it was bad, but wiping out almost all of Id Software's coders - the most experienced engine coders and optimizers in the entire business - is ABSOLUTELY INSANE.
“Most, if not all,” of Id Software’s coders, 60-70 Obsidian developers, and more veteran developers have reportedly been laid off from Microsoft as the scale of this week’s big Xbox cuts becomes clearer. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/xbox-la...
God, it looks like a LOT of Accessibility specialists were hit by today's layoffs at Xbox, inclusing some of their most senior accessibility folks. This feels like a REALLY bad sign for accessibility at Xbox going forward. A huge amount of skilled talent being thrown out as part of this "shake up".

No happy disability pride month to those in the community that ignore genocide, ignore COVID & continuously seek validation from non-disabled people & help them promote eugenics. You get to spend this month thinking about your actions. Do better, you're part of our community so act like it.
