I have, with my own eyes, watched my tax dollars in the form of missiles as they hit buildings inhabited by civilians. I'd much prefer subsidizing a grocery story I don't use.

The Yankees are, fundamentally, a pretty good baseball team and they didn't do anything at the trade deadline to change that. They're still pretty good. I wish they'd gotten better!

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.
Rodger Sherman@rodger.bsky.social · 6d agoi don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice
Same with gender-affirming care for kids. Good-faith concern would be, "gee we should be making sure kids are appropriately assessed before receiving care and don't end up regretting it," realizing the numbers are tiny, kids are assessed and regret rates are miniscule and then dropping it.
Bathrooms: "Gee we should be making sure predators aren't pretending to be trans to get into women's bathrooms and attacking them," realizing this is essentially an urban legend and then dropping it.
Concerns over fake phenomena cannot be held in good faith. There's no such thing as "good faith" concern over razorblades in Halloween apples or vaccines causing autism. If you still have 'concerns' about these issues you are uninformed, a bigot or being manipulated. No other option.

I keep thinking about how often the mass layoffs in media, government and big companies, especially women and people of color, will lead to poorer outcomes for years because the people who would point out potential problems or blind spots were deemed non-essential, a "bad fit", and/or too expensive.
Everyone loses when there are fewer people from diverse backgrounds doing quality control and asking questions like, "how can bad actors use this new tech?" Or "how does this policy affect Black Americans?" or "Should we really lay off all the sports reporters right before the Olympics?"
By this ... logic, if any Muslim in NYC is attacked in the next few days, it's actually the fault of The New York Times for criticizing the Muslim mayor.

Saunders@profsaunders.bsky.social · 2w agoCan't get numb to this: The United States is stuck in a war it started, cannot end, and may further escalate to no avail, having dismantled its diplomatic apparatus, depleted its military stockpile, and destroyed its credibility. A historic strategic mistake harming millions in many different ways.
or to put it another way, the left is benefiting because D primary voters see AIPAC support as a betrayal of Democratic identity. not because of antisemitism, but because AIPAC has just made it really clear it's a Republican org.
