It's hard to fathom that this even needs saying, but MAGA's belief that white conservative adults all deserve a pass for "youthful foolishness" until they reach adulthood at the age of 46 makes it necessary. To articulate any version of "this poor girl" is to consent to a specious framework.

Because think about it: the vast majority of people in prisons aren't there for violent crimes. So if prisons are so bad at reforming and rehabilitating people that they do the opposite, that they turn people INTO marauding hordes, why is that an institution you're defending?
