I am finding the weird Republicans/The American Right Don't Actually Care About Empire arc bizarre. I really really would have put being a great imperial power as something that wasn't fake to them, a value they actually held where it being sacrificed would cause very significant discontent.

In today's episode of Only Democrats Have Power or Agency we learn that the US could end the Iran War and lower the price of gas and cost of living if only Democrats wld just stay quiet about Trump's humiliating defeat in his war of choice.

Yes, people owned much less stuff in general. One of the ways America's increase in wealth has expressed itself is through the accumulation of consumer goods. I was just mentioning this because I thought it would be intuitive to realize a contemporary typical wardrobe wouldn't fit in a 1950 closet.
