We also have to go after MAGA in a manner that makes young, uninformed men look at us and think "hey, this is a team I belong on." Less appeals to decency and decorum, more calling them losers and p_ssies.

I think "show some fight" is the correct response and is agnostic about whether Trumpism has been successful and needs to be vigorously opposed or whether it's been an embarrassing failure. Either way, voters want to see a party that is willing to wield power and subdue its opponents!

The reason why most rural voters are a lost cause is because they're not actual farmers! They're "rural" because they hate the idea of neighborliness, caring about other people, paying taxes to fund anything that doesn't directly benefit them, and diversity. Not exactly a Democratic constituency!

I would take it a step further. Voters have shown clearly that they don't care about whether *politicians* respect norms and decorum, and often prefer that they *don't*.

Do you think that we lost because we were insufficiently focused on decency and decorum? The average voter already sees us as the teacher's pet. Yes, we needed to be more crass! That's what codes as "regular guy" speak.

You don't explain, you double down. And then when someone concern trolls you, you tell them this is why the American public hates you elites. Works for trump and the party that controls all of the federal govt.

Among many other things this is a good illustration of the necessity of untethering ideology and "fight" in intra-Democratic battles. The party is very united on fight, very divided on ideology. You unite on fight, let different constituencies/states find their center of gravity on ideology.

"Fight" versus "milquetoast" is an entirely separate axis from "progressive" versus "moderate" and it's super unproductive to conflate the two. If you want the older, polite Democrats to step aside, say that! Don't make it about ideology. It's not!

So, what happens if I'm a parent and I know that my kid needs highly paid teachers, a library full of books with diverse characters, trans-inclusive bathrooms and extracurriculars, and a curriculum unpacking topics like systemic racism, colonial oppression, economic inequality, and climate change?

The Trump admitted it canceled $7.6B in grants for clean energy projects "based solely on the political identity of the grant recipient's state". Impeachment is no longer good enough. Each of those states should prepare civil charges against Trump. Discovery will end him.
