We’re hiring! Looking for a laboratory post-doc fellow to help us disentangle protective and pathogenic T cells in TB, so we can stratify disease-risk after infection, and develop more effective vaccines. Cool illustration how informative human challenge models can be! Here #SARSCoV2 challenge model has identified: 👉 insights into differential regulation of IFN-stimulated genes 👉 potential diagnostic biomarkers for early (MX1) & late (IFI27) viral infections #IDSky #ImmunoSky #COVID19 #MedSky 🧪

Also out now.. after peer review, our analysis of blood transcriptional biomarkers of acute respiratory viral infection leveraging the SARS-CoV-2 human challenge model: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Reposting for anyone who hasn't clocked this paper yet- fab analysis by @gushamilton.bsky.social @gpollara.bsky.social and team - persuaded anti-IL6 unlikely to increase TB risk , and now need to test it's potential as therapeutic to reduce immunopath. What else can we infer about TB immunology?

🚨 Delighted to share our paper defining a new role for IL-6 in TB. 🚨 We used genetic variation to show *reduced* IL-6 signalling is causally associated with *lower* risk of TB. Lead author @gushamilton.bsky.social #TBSky #IDSky #ImmunoSky www.thelancet.com/journals/lan... Thread 👇 (1/8)
