We can't beat something w/ nothing. We can spend all day listing symptoms & memories we don't want, & that's part of trauma recovery. But we also have to develop a vision of what we DO want--who we want to be, what we want to feel, what values we want to align w/ in the world.

Can we all agree this is fucked. Plant natives. Help life grow. PMHNP. Against current political climate. Let’s build community. No justice, NO PEACE. Vegan for the animals. Doodles for the soul. Safe space here. Your VOICE MATTERS.she/her
Paying attention to how we talk to ourselves can seem like an enormous pain in the ass-- until we realize we're talking to ourselves all day, every day, anyway. All trauma recovery is asking us to do is to do it on purpose, using language & tone we, not our abusers, choose.
THE KID WHO DOES BIRD CALLS IS BACK!! The Atlanta Hawks got him to do their schedule release by doing different bird calls for their opponents
Did you ask for a bird fact? No, but you're getting one whether you like it or not. 🪶
Kill your lawn and grow your own food! It benefits you, local wildlife, pollinators, helps absorb carbon, is beautiful and an absolute rebel act! 🌞
raspberries are almost $22/pound at the grocery store but trading your neighbor halibut for access to their ridiculously productive raspberry patch: $free.99

So many of us non-Black folks could just take a minute, trust and respect when Black folks tell us something is racist, and just stop doing doing it. Changing a small behavior to reduce harm is seriously bare minimum.
Love yourself with such intensity (& in such concrete, behavioral ways) that your bullies & abusers would be mystified & appalled. Get cringe with it. Go all in. Show your "parts" & inner child how they should have been loved this whole time.
Executive dysfunction, especially difficultly making decisions & getting or staying motivated, is common w/ CPTSD survivors. It has nothing to do w/ "willpower"-- it has everything to do w/ the fact that our nervous system is highly vulnerable to hijacking & dissociation.
As long as you're enjoying drawing that's all that matters
Having no hobbies & taking no time to read & listen to things we like for no reason other than we like them, is an excellent way to stall & flame out in trauma recovery. We need as much dopamine & serotonin as we can get in this process. The things we like are recovery tools.
Realistic trauma recovery work very often requires us to move between light & shadow. We need our hope, yes-- but we also need our darkness, our edge, even some aspects of our scars & pain. "Integration" in recovery work does not mean banishing any "part" of us. Ever.
Who the fuck said either mad people or Black people or folks who are both are here to play along with what y'all call being civil? Nothing but some white supremacy & ableism. We live way more free outside y'all pitiful limitations y'all put on yourselves conforming to be civil. @mewefree.bsky.social
White people y'all ready to not be cool with other white people? Because that's what it really takes. You have to accept that when you get woke you don't fit into that world of ignorance as well anymore. That discomfort you've chosen is you risk you took on. Bucking against the norm is unpopular.
You know who's not as scared as you right in general, white people? Black folks. We have way more reason to be scared than you because the regime comes after us ten times harder than you. But oppression is not new to us like it is to you so we adapt when the heat gets turned up. Learn from us.
Weather and climate are connected, but they are not the same. Weather is what we experience day to day. Climate is the longer-term patterns that help explain what is changing, what is becoming more likely, and what communities may need to prepare for. Climate.us helps make those connections clearer.
🌱 "We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect." —Aldo Leopold
It's possible if you want it. Y'all want it? Act like it. First step is to do shit to make it happen. You wondering why it ain't happening & you ain't doing shit? That's why it ain't happening. No one's coming to do it for you. If you want it bad enough, you find ways to do it right where you are.
Everybody, let's keep eyes on Memphis. Their occupation under ICE is flying too low under the national radar. ICE is actually killing people there & has the whole city under siege. And we're not seeing folks care about Memphis like other places.
We’re masking our neurodivergence in professional life to play by all the rules. When the mask slips off, they go wait I didn’t know there was a neurodivergent person under there! Well your kind of people are not really ok & this is a problem.
You can be a good person and still make mistakes in connections, and I think a lot of folks forget that. That’s why when someone says you hurt them or fell short of an expectation, instead of listening, some will defend their ‘intentions’ because you jump to think they’re saying you’re a bad person.
A schedule w/ zero structure doesn't do CPTSD survivors any favors. I had to learn this one the hard way. Our brains hate & fear feeling controlled or trapped-- but we really do need rhythm & support to make our day & life work.
The 1924 Indian Citizenship Act granted U.S. citizenship to all Native Americans. Despite this, discriminatory state laws continued to suppress their voting rights for decades following its passage.
