I cannot describe the brokenness I felt reading this from the Haaretz piece. The hostages were betrayed by everyone; Israeli leaders, the diaspora leaders & their orgs, the entire pro-Israel industrial complex, and by far and away the millions of people who cried "hostages" to support a genocide.

It’s the enormous failure of the medical system to be trustworthy that has *created* space for the MAHA movement to flourish. If the US medical industrial complex was ethical, moral, and inclusive MAHA wouldn’t exist. This article I wrote back in 2019 is unfortunately more relevant then ever.

Getting a little nervous watching the AOC/MAHA backlash swing into "we must always trust the medical system" territory. Especially coming from folks who have never had to ask the medical system to give a shit about their ovaries being covered in cysts or endo scarring eating their intestines.

I know this is a common belief, but it’s not true. If people went anti-vaxx/MAHA because they were excluded from the medical establishment, we would see sky-high rates among poor people, minorities and the uninsured. We don’t.

Eh. This strikes me as a very top-down Man-flavored response that doesn’t take into account how women (esp. Moms) wind up in MAHA spaces. Many MAHA-adjacent Moms are there because they have been talked down to & dismissed by medical establishment when they raise real concerns about their kids. 1/

The right-wing organizing around the Lindsay Clancy trial is growing and it’s frightening. A lot of people overlook these culture wars revolving around women’s issues, because, well, they’re women’s issues. But the right doesn’t. It’s how they regained such a massive cultural foothold.

Yes. Once you start seeing this (Institution X probably wanted do this conservative thing anyway but now can blame it on Trump), it's everywhere. It's not capitulation, it's agreement. "We can stop doing this thing we started doing from 2014-2020 because of woke/progressive/anti-racist pressure."
