RIP to the mountain ash tree in my parents' front yard. It lost a limb a few weeks ago, and there were clear signs of rot. These trees typically only live about 25-50 years. My parents have lived in this house for less than 20 years, and the tree was there, fully grown, when they moved in.

Apparently,they had to cease aerial wildfire fighting operations in Spokane, because something like 26 (!) personal drones were in the area. I hope these assholes get caught. They probably won't, but one can dream.

I love capitalism because there's a major catastrophic natural disaster that is displacing a lot of people in our area, but at least the mall will still be open tomorrow!

A bike helmet literally saved my dad's life. He used to ride his bike on his lunch break. One day, his coworker saw him standing in the parking lot by his car, helmet bashed in, blood on his face and completely confused as to what was going on. To this day, he has no memory of what happened.

Everyone who is like “a helmet won’t save you if you get hit by a car!” let this be a reminder that there are other reasons why you might want to wear a helmet while riding a bike! As bummed as I am to lose such a nice looking helmet I’ll be looking for a new one today.

Being anti-AI isn't enough. You should be pro-art, pro-artist, pro-writer, pro-worker. Don't expend all your energy tearing people down. Spend it lifting people up instead. Make their voices so loud, their art so visible, it drowns out the slop.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time.
