While taking it, I was like "this just seems like 80 other quizzes I've taken, but harder to parse," but damn if it isn't the first one to get the state right.

Without saying your age, what is your favorite movie that came out when you were 20 years old? (Posting without having rewatched anything from that year recently. Also, Jesus, 1999 was LOADED.)

Decent showing from Whalen, considering Neal has been in that seat since 1989 and the first time I heard Whalen's name was when I got my ballot.

It's pretty telling that every ad I've seen against Markey is just about how he's old and needs to pass the torch, as if they reeeeeally don't want people to notice who the other candidate is. (It's Seth Moulton, who sucks.)
This is low-level propaganda that elides the real story, which is that the younger candidate in this race is an anti-trans clown and the older candidate is one of the Senate's strongest progressives. Please vote for Markey in MA, friends. The old guy is the only choice here.
With accounts that exclusively post screenshots/quotations/famous paintings/comic panels/etc., I sometimes wonder whether someone built an automated/semi-automated system, or if they're picking and posting expressively. Occasionally they will supply a very clear answer.
So YouTube threw me an ad for that Johnny Depp Scrooge movie, and the thing that's weird about it isn't the story (which didn't look at all different), it's that it looks like a Jim Carrey movie. Like Johnny Depp is trying to become Jim Carry. Which, I think, is a wholly novel form of pathetic.
i have a theory about why this is the case: it's because they like Trump. They think he's a good President and they want to help him rule us like a king.
Does anyone have an explanation for why major media aren't reporting loudly that the president of the United States is out of his mind? Other than the obvious explanations of media cowardice and complicity, I mean.

Whatever you want to ‘get done’ while conceding the enemy’s hatred, will be done according to the enemy’s hatred. You are seeing right now what three decades of conceding Republican arguments on immigration have led to. They did not simply turn a switch. The apparatus had been built for them.
Yep, this is empirically true. Sentence length is largely no impact; certainty of punishment is high impact, as is short time between crime and punishment The US system* gets it exactly backwards, with draconian sentences sometimes levied a long time later (*probation violations excluded)
Incidentally we had an anonymous guy on old-Twitter who actually ran a lot of the numbers on crime v conviction stats. He really demonstrated pretty clearly that it was the threat of being actually punished (not the degree of potential punishment) that deterred crime.
The idea that "y'all" is region-locked to a mythical group of folksy, "authentic" Southerners, neatly and conveniently constrained by geography, class, and character is, imo, pretty goofy.

A Plague Tale is a terrific series, and the latest game, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, charts a new action-oriented path that still has the series' trademark beauty and brutality

Tim Curry had been doing poorly ever since he had a major stroke back in 2012. Amazingly, he still did the occasional VA work, voicing Auntie Whispers in 2014. Theres an ethereal frailness to her because of what he went through. He, like Dolly, was an amazing human being.
Look, there's accent work and then there accent work.
