When I see people talk about increased diagnosis in ADHD they often talk about the increased access for women and people of colour. While I think that’s true, I think there’s another group gaining access to diagnosis particularly in the UK that is probably fueling the right wing pushback

Jessica Smith 🏳️🌈@mintopia.net · 3d agoI’d like to dispel one myth and it’s that this treatment of ADHD is new. The ideas underpinning this documentary have been in the press since the early 00s. There were always claims of over diagnosis, that meds weren’t necessary, that ADHD isn’t real. It’s nothing new.

One of the really wild things about this issue is that Scottish Labour’s membership unambiguously supported trans rights by defeating a leadership-backed motion at conference last year. This is just elite capture!

Personally I think there are "legitimate questions" about COVID. Like why Michael Gove and Matt Hancock got away with giving away contracts to their mates. And why the fuck Michelle Mone and Doug Barrowman haven't been prosecuted.
After 37 years of attending football I can no longer attend because of an attempt to appease the younger generation. So GTFOH with this bullshit.

Tonight marks the start of the third season of Scottish football that I’ve been excluded from because of disability discrimination. But this is Scotland so I’m supposed to suck it up because god forbid we be inclusive of disabled people. It’s more than that this country hates disabled people.

There are NHS doctors participating in a channel 4 doc called ‘The Great ADHD Myth?’ These are not people giving 100%, frankly they are doctors who need to be struck off. Just like doctors who publish books saying certain conditions shouldn’t be diagnosed

I have no medical expertise whatsoever but I have worked with a large number of clinicians who specialise in childhood disability and helped to create a large quantity of online learning content around ADHD and there is literally zero doubt that ADHD is a genuine neurodevelopmental disorder. None.
