WNBA Suspends Seattle Storm Minority Owner For Being Rude To Transphobic Shitheads | Defector
On Tuesday night, a small group of weirdos held an anti-trans rally outside of the Seattle Storm’s home arena. The occasion for their gathering was a game against the Indiana Fever and bench player…

It's important to understand that the "heartbeat" you hear in early ultrasounds is actually created by the machine, not the embryo. But crisis pregnancy centers lie to patients about this. www.npr.org/sections/hea...
The Texas abortion ban hinges on 'fetal heartbeat.' Doctors call that misleading
The Texas law bans abortions after a "fetal heartbeat" is detected, usually about six weeks into pregnancy. But doctors say that's not an actual medical term and it's being used inaccurately.

Another installment of our crisis pregnancy centers series is up now. Awesome work by @sofiaresnick.bsky.social "With the help of the Alliance Defending Freedom, crisis pregnancy centers have overturned or prevented disclosure laws from being enforced or blocked investigations in (three states)."
This is why the death of science journalism is such a danger to society. There are barely any of us around anymore to take on these stores and the types of things that require science understanding is just going to reporters who don’t understand any of it.
I don’t know what happened while my phone was in my pocket, but I *am* offended
And also: a shout-out to my colleagues at NPR news. They don’t have the same problem with management/ownership as do journalists elsewhere, but they have been punished by the Admin for their coverage, and remain under threat. Still, as someone once said, they persist. www.npr.org/2026/07/26/n...
Rage-giving, innovation and cuts: How public media has survived without federal funds
A year after President Trump signed a law ending six decades of federal funding of public media, it's a time of reinvention, innovation and clear anxiety at public tv and radio stations nationwide.

Post a perfect album from the 90s (I’m only doing this to remind everyone how fucking good this album is)

“No, Blood Boy!” I cry out to my own blood boy, “Put down the knife!”
extremely normal guy voice: I cloned myself so I can become my own blood boy.
Every time Berenson trends is my excuse to post this early COVID era gem.
Look who’s taking the side of explosive diarrhea
I just can’t imagine wanting to be alive this badly
There's no way Bryan Johnson could possibly get any creepier than he already- hang on, I'm getting a note
the thing is, we HAVE ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism. so it's just plain wrong. that's how strong the evidence base is.
The claim “RFK Jr. does not fuck chickens” is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that RFK Jr. fucks chickens.
China is the global battery powerhouse. 4 GW just five years ago, 155 GW today. The gov't is requiring all new data centers to derive at least 80% of their power from renewables & all of those renewables will be paired with batteries. It also controls much of the world's battery supply chain.
The Key to Solar and Wind Power Is Battery Storage, and China Is Dominating
Chinese suppliers have 90% of the U.S. energy-storage market, generating concern in Washington about overreliance on its rival.

“… the CDC lab that responds to outbreaks of the parasite cyclospora was downsized from 11 people to just 3”
“Based on simple math, these outbreak responses—which require rapid, timely responses—are going to be greatly diminished,” the former CDC lab director tells WIRED. www.wired.com/story/cdc-cy...
Huge day for the goats: the wind brought enormous willow branches down last night, which for them is like cheeseburgers falling from the sky
i don't like the underlying events causing it, but i do like that every news outlet has to use the phrase "explosive diarrhea" in their headlines
really thinking about this tweet as i’ve been struggling to breathe through nausea for the last 5 hours
These images of First Nations community members evacuating Collins, Ontario on motorboats are absolutely surreal www.facebook.com/reel/1548244...

Would love it if my news feed was less thinly veiled sponcon and more…things that are happening in the world

I'll add that the way the DHS post is phrased is a classic of the genre an illegal alien departed the residence in a vehicle...an officer discharged his weapon...the driver of the vehicle was struck... he passed away from his injuries Translation: ICE shot and killed a person driving a car.
WHOA DHS does not say that the agent feared for his life… just the vague concern for “public safety.” So he killed him just because he did not want him in America, not because of any specific threat to agents?
