Sports are a foot in the door, intentionally so by the anti-trans organizations that push it. They know that if they can get you to accept an asterisk on who we are in one arena, they can get you to accept it everywhere.

The second the Democratic party starts accepting sports bans, I promise you, it will go on to do worse. And in fact we are already seeing it, some of the candidates also are opposing "trans surgery for youth." That easily becomes blockers and hormones, bathrooms and schools.

There are people, even some trans people, who think that we can give up sports to appease bigots. That if we give up on sports, this all goes away. That is a lie. I have reported on this for years, and EVERY state that passed a sports ban as a moderate compromise has gone on to pass worse.

will a physicist hatefuck me or shoot me on sight if I ask them if they wanna solve the three-body problem analytically with me and my wife and will they hate me more if I add "bring your slide rule"

basis: "what country's flag is that and why are all the cutest people from there" extension: "why do some of them cuties get injured the same way every week on one thigh or the other" conflations: "band-aids can be fashion"; "why are band-aid wearers so cute"; …

Want to run computer programs whose behavior when connected to the internet is unpredictable and possibly malicious anyway for a laugh? We had a term for that: It was called "MALWARE"

According to a study by the UCLA school of law, 80% of sexual abusers are straight men and less than 1% are transgender. 87% are white. 95.4% are United States citizens. You need to stop worrying about immigrants and trans people and be more worried about straight white men.

Actually the etymology of "dire wolf" doesn't come from the Latin for "dread," as you might think! It's an anglicization of the Yiddish "dire" (DEE-reh), or "rental housing"; "dire volf" was originally slang for landlords.

sometimes yiddish is spelled so that little marks separate out the germanic-origin parts of a word from the hebrew-derived parts, like in derharget (דערהרגעט) the prefix der- and suffix -et are separated out from harg (הרג), and i have no idea the purpose this served but it's still real neat
