Getting HIV in 1986 was a death sentence. It's now a manageable, preventable condition. It can be made undetectable and untransmissible. We can take a pill or shot and not catch it. That is straight-up miraculous.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
Filling out my legal change of name form (again; I never got the first one sent in, lol) and it wants a physical address I live in an RV, I don't HAVE a physical address :| Should I just put down the name of the property it's parked on or what??
Countless women's sports teams have independently spoken up in favour of trans inclusion in sports only to be targeted by attacks from people who hate women's sports
enough of this shit
Imane Khelif, Barbra Banda, now the Cunningham circus - it's kind of amazing how many "trans women in sports" controversies don't actually involve a single trans woman
15,000 years ago, in one of the the earliest settled communities in the world, a child collected fine clay from the slow-moving river by her home. She then committed an act familiar to all inveterate play-doh enthusiasts; rolling and and pinching the squishy clay into tiny round balls.
They could build housing and transit infrastructure as quickly as pipleines and data centres. If they wanted to.

This has been studied quite a bit, the solar panels create a sort of greenhouse effect for the plants underneath them while also generating energy which feels like it should be cheating but is real and literally only has upsides.
Massachusetts farm installs 832 solar panels above berry fields, and the berries grown underneath turned out sweeter and juicier and could change the future of American farming - The Economic Times share.google/GDGqQBgisqhG...

in insane local news, the 26 year old director of a rocky horror production was arrested for sending threatening messages to himself in order to get the play shut down bc he didn’t want to deal with cast drama www.mynbc5.com/article/rock...
Another thing that pisses me off about the endless “BlueSky needs to be more welcoming to far-right Nazis” takes is, they are free to join. It seems BlueSky won’t take their posts down unless they contain a pic of an ass. What they want is an algorithm to force their rage-bait shit onto your feed.
"Bluesky is a political echo chamber" okay but I'm mostly here to chat with fun internet people and post art and make jokes, I cannot stress how much I don't care
That is WILD lmao like literally all she did was make a gently-worded post asking for one (1) small consideration and it not only made the news, they fuckin capped her for it 😭 her account got the concrete shoes what is this app site
Well, it appears that, sometime in the last 17 hours, Gwen Pepperoni was suspended for the crime of pointing out Ken Jennings' transphobia.

they don't want trans women to play women's sports bc 1) prohibiting trans women from women's sports (de jure) and men's sports (de facto) is a great way to otherize them as something not part of humanity 2) policing trans women and trans girl athletes is a socially-beloved Sexual Assault Machine
I used to think it was crazy that each Flock camera costs taxpayers $2,500/month! But now it all makes sense. These are valuable objects that may contain up to 2-3 lbs of copper and 1-2 grams of gold.
chat can anyone verify that every single Flock camera has about 2-3 Ibs of copper and about 1-2 grams of gold
Does anyone have good recommendations for tutorials on learning shibari/rope bondage?
Our ICUs were so busy that they redeployed some of my food service workers and myself to turn ventilated patients because the nursing team was so busy. Do not let them rewrite history.
RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>

i'm surprised folks don't know this in the year of our lord 2026! BMI is flawed because: - it's based on stats only from white males - it doesn't take into account weight of muscle vs. fat like at all - doesn't indicate metabolic health at all - assessments based on it do more harm than good
BMI a poor metric for measuring people’s health, say experts | Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
Clinicians should pull back on the widespread use of body mass index (BMI) as a metric for assessing people’s health because it can lead to patient distrust and delayed care, say some health experts.

Everntually the world will have to reckon with the way so much child sexual abuse is perpetrated by other children.
In the first half of 2026, Japan logged 123 sexual deepfake cases where AI was used to make content using images of real minors, up from 60 in H1 2025. Over 90% were middle/high schoolers. The largest group of perpetrators? Classmates at the same school (83 cases).

I have, with my own eyes, watched my tax dollars in the form of missiles as they hit buildings inhabited by civilians. I'd much prefer subsidizing a grocery story I don't use.
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
My favorite scene in the new spider-man, was when they thought they had Spider-Man defeated by trapping him under a big Tupperware bowl, but then found that weird wad of web in the corner and thousands of tiny Peter Parkers spilled out
There is a demographic of people who sit at the intersection of transphobic and anti-choice laws. It is the only demographic that is constantly left out of these discussions.
Nationalists are obsessed with the subjugation of women and control over our bodies, by attacking and destroying the rights of trans ppl, especially trans women, they can severely construct the bounds of gender roles. I forget who said it but they're building a cage for cis women out of our bones.
Let me say that again: waiting 1-2 years to let trans teens start HRT really is not supported by the research literature any longer. The kids so infrequently stop HRT that the delay in treatment probably causes more harm than it prevents. It's time to phase out puberty blockers for trans teens.
To say the obvious part first: if your kid tells you they're trans, they're virtually guaranteed to be right. But there really is a broader point here, and it needs to be said plainly at this point: puberty blockers--the compromise position on HRT--are unneeded. Just let them start HRT.
