The face of a dog who very likely saved me from getting bit by a rattlesnake that snuck up on us while sitting at a picnic table. She jumped back and started pulling at her leash, and I was able to get away as its tail started rattling. Good girl, Twyla!

Black and white mutt curled up on the couch and giving me the side eye, oblivious to the fact that she is a hero.

Wrapped my Street Kid playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 (picked the DLC-exclusive ending, which felt fitting). Now it’s spooky season so I want to start a horror/adjacent game. Thinking: The Sinking City Gloomwood South of Midnight The Axis Unseen Alien: Isolation (replay) Any recommendations?

Pretty sure I got the Bad Ending in Phantom Liberty, and I've been reflecting on whether I want to go back and make different choices. But at the same time, every choice I made in the moment was right for the V I played and the ending I got felt meaningful for that reason.

the other thing is like. you think people will be tortured by the machine in the future for saying "clanker" but not for enslaving Claude and making it (shudder) write PHP?

Focusing on your craft does very little. Games, movies, etc that are bad are not bad because the people making them are bad at their jobs individually. They're bad because the people making them were unable to coordinate. Learning a lil of other peoples' jobs is what will make you better at yours

AAA Narrative Design is maybe 20% writing things and 80% working with the team to find a shared vision, then keep it on track through development.

The happiest a writer gets is when they’re sketching the map at the beginning of fantasy books and naming places that will never show up in the story. Making some zigzag line mountains and labeling them “The Widow’s Teeth”

I know everything feels terrible and doomy but I've been working on surveillance issues for most of my adult life and I have never seen so much energy, momentum, and concrete VICTORIES happening as what we are seeing right now on Flock cameras and facial recognition in venues. Keep. Going.
