After talking to a young writer last night, I want to remind you all that it's okay to write without an assignment or goal. Write to explore a new technique, get an idea out of your head, or as emotional exhalation. Write for the raw joy of it. For you alone. It doesn't need to go into a portfolio

Absolutely unbelievable how solar power has taken off worldwide during the Hormuz oil crisis. You don't have to hand it to him, but Trump may have done more to finally kick off a global civilization of effete librul solar users than anyone else in the West

Chart showing solar panel exports from China (the main solar panel maker by a long shot) growing steadily & mightily from 2018 through 2026, then spiking by almost 2x in March 2026.

“It’s worth understanding that our digital world is fundamentally democratic by design. Anyone has the power to learn, break, hack, and create tools that break predatory technology or tech trends. The only thing stopping anyone is knowledge that it’s possible.”

humans aren't naturally particularly good or bad. the great labor of each of our lives is to *make* ourselves good, and help the people around us do the same so that someday together we can build a better world. Being awful to random people online constantly just drags you & the world the other way

contrary to what much of this site believes, your actions (in addition to, and more than your intent) matter and will modify who you are. treating people online like shit will eventually make you a worse person IRL. in order to be good you have to practice at being good.

Nine hours after going live, the itch bundle benefiting our Game Worker Hardship Fund has already raised over $13k! Thank you so much to those who have already purchased. And for those who might be waiting for payday, you’ve still got about two weeks left! Thank you so much 🙏

A screenshot from the itch page for the game industry hardship bundle, showing that more than thirteen thousand dollars has already been raised out of the total 100k goal

it's weird how many online multiplayers don't factor in incidental encounters. I could care less about being able to raid with people or do dungeons together, but existing in the same world where we can bump into each other and have funny moments? Any subscription fee you like.

MMOs are sick because of the incidental encounters you have with strangers going about their own business, not because of the prescribed activities you slot yourself into alongside a prerequisite number of players
