"Couch potato" is the archetypal metaphor for laziness. Yet if you leave a potato on the couch it will sprout without soil, relying solely on its internal reserve of water. What is this if not grindset? Are we not all, now, relying on our internal reserves to grow, on the computer?
Did you see what the White House said about me in the Washington Post? Now, personally, I wear it as a badge of honor to be attacked by Donald Trump and his criminal administration. That means we’re doing something right.
Class in the US is entirely a matter of aesthetics now. Rich suburban kids are “country”. Beard Dudes who look like they love IPAs are “working class.” Teachers who make $32,000 a year but have to dress up sort of nice in JCPenney clothes are “elites“. None of these words mean anything anymore.

But libraries are not just code, they’re time invested in edge cases, they’re hundreds of hours of human eyes. I don’t want to replace that.

wishda@wishda.bsky.social · 8mo agoThey less abandoned him, and more that this is how places handle this. When I lived in the N.C. mountains, there was a ton of messaging to bear proof your property for the winter, and it always ended with “And if you don’t, leave the bear alone until spring.”

This should not be shrugged aside. They have stopped with the fake 22 million illegal immigrants things and are flat out saying we want to deport 10's of millions of citizens and legal residents from "third world countries" Basically they are advocating removing 1/3 of the population on a gov site.
Nothing like transitioning a few petabytes of data between storage tiers to make you second guess your own math skills.
