Warnock: "I worry that Democrats are missing a real opportunity to invest in a serious & sustained way in the South. If we would just lean in and stay in through the election & after the election, the kind of victory you saw us achieve here in Georgia, it is achievable in a place like Mississippi."
If you peek behind the curtain of basically any niche hobbyist community involved with technology you'll find this same story everywhere. imo it reflects a cultural obsessions with output and ignoring what was actually enriching about these projects: community and skills-building.
A video game reverse engineering community has shut down because many games can now be trivially reverse engineered and decompiled with AI: "The community aspect of decompilation has been broken." www.404media.co/video-game-r...
No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads
Killing people doesn't unkill other people. It just causes even more dead people. In fact once you realize that, you end up being opposed to *gestures generally at everything going on right now*.
go fuck yourself marsha and every bloodthirsty politician looking for an excuse to use the power of the state to murder with impunity
Gov. Bill Lee on Wednesday called for an independent review of Christa Pike's failed execution. Meanwhile, Sen. Marsha Blackburn is calling for use of the electric chair.
sick to my stomach at the heinous actions of my state abolish the death penalty now
Christa Pike was tortured by the state of Tennessee yesterday. This is now the second horrific botched execution by Tennessee in less than six months.
You can pry the hope and love out of my cold dead corpse. I will ALWAYS be kind and good.

the wisconsin gerrymander has stood as a monument to the right's effectiveness at subverting democracy my entire adult political life. breaking it would be huge
Big silver lining for Dems in Francesca Hong's loss: Wisconsin Dems tell me David Crowley at top of ticket will make state legislative wins more likely, potentially enabling flipping of both chambers to Dems. That would allow Dems to redistrict long-term. New piece: newrepublic.com/article/2142...
Check out what's happening in TN! Back when I first moved back in 2017 we started building the infrastructure for this kind of sustainable growth starting with recruiting candidates in (almost) every district and seeing the largest growth of seats contested by Dems in the country.
Banner night for Tennessee Democrats! Democrats won control of the Knox County School Board (Knoxville) & the Montgomery County Commission (Clarksville + Fort Campbell) flipped blue for the first time ever. Several school board & county commission seats flipped in other urban & suburban areas.
Memphis City Councilmember Jerri Green will be Democrats’ nominee for governor, advancing to the general election after Thursday’s primary.

I would like to see more companies admit this - being a public company no longer means running a successful, thriving business. It strictly means delivering growth to investors, every single quarter, who do not care at all about the product the company sells or the people who produce it.

"Is Democratic socialism the new hotness? Should mainstream Democrats panic? I don’t think so. But mainstream Democrats do need to wake up to what their voters are demanding. Here’s what I can tell you from my focus groups." NEW from @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social:
During July 4th week, Eugene Debs’s 1901 Independence Day speech still cuts through the fireworks: “What is wanted is not a reform of the capitalist system, but its entire abolition.”
Eugene Debs: The Mission of Socialism is Wide as the World
In an Independence Day speech in 1901, socialist leader Eugene Debs declared: "I like the 4th of July. It breathes a spirit of revolution. On this day we reaffirm the ultimate triumph of Socialism.…

really cannot be emphasized enough that the drafters of the birthright clause very much considered cases analogous to undocumented immigrants and *included them too*
That's right.
If people aren’t thinking about realignment strategies, they shouldn’t be running Democrats’ operations.
Important: New internal polling by Dems finds majorities of working class in some pretty red House districts blame Trump/GOP for their economic struggles. This is why Dems are contesting tough seats. Good to see they're expanding the map. Details in my new piece: newrepublic.com/article/2116...
There’s been a lot of talk in this race about what makes a "real man." A man does what’s right when no one is watching. He upholds his commitments to his family and neighbors. He doesn’t lie, cheat, & steal his way through life. Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.
Nobody who is remotely acquainted with the federal budget would say something this ridiculous. It’s the free-lunch fantasy that you can balance the books by targeting “waste & fraud” rather than making hard choices that will be politically unpopular.
Stephen Miller: "Based on what I've heard, we could balance the federal budget if the only dollars that went out of the treasury went to individuals who were properly, lawfully, correctly eligible to receive them"
it is incredible to see folks complain that good people don't run for office, that lawmaking is a hobby for the rich, that our state legislators are run by car dealership freaks, and then insist that we shouldn't pay lawmakers any more than we do.
